Time for Kerry to run an ad countering the Swfitvets slander
He's shown a downward trend in the polls the past couple swipes. The chickenmanure Bush and Rove paid for with all those swiftvets who served on boats Kerry did not serve on seem to be working.

Kerry can expect more of the same kind of ads. More swiftvets. More slander.

Time to answer this in ads and to answer it in every state that's running the swiftboat ads.

It was just this kind of ad manure that destroyed Dukakis.

2. Clinton said we must make them pay for every attack - they haven't paid!
Kerry needs to make them pay for this.

That means tying it to Bush and trying to use the ad to hurt Bush.

If you don't make them pay, they will make us pay.

4. agreed - we should have had people all over the news
This is getting to be almost as bad as Bush 1's infamous "Willie Horton" ad, which was rebutted too late.

3. Kerry should run ads with his testimony before Congress and list the

more than 250 soldiers he was speaking for who were afraid to come forth with the evidence that they gave to Kerry to speak for them.

What is lost on everyone is that John Kerry did not testify against the Viet Nam war alone, on his own. He was giving voice to the many decent soldiers who knew the truth about Viet Nam and who were afraid to come forward with what they knew. John Kerry was courageous enough to admit his own role in atocities and to give voice to the soldiers who were admitting what they had done. Unlike the scumbag soldiers like O'Neill who just wanted to kill and cover up their own atrocities.

6. It's old news and even the media has pretty much discredited the ad.
When's the last time you saw the ad, anyway?

Instead, Kerry needs to press for debates ASAP.

7. More than three debates I say.
The more debates, the more we talk about issues rather than dwelling on where poll positions are. That's all the media care about right now is where Bush and Kerry are in the polls which is a stupid way of covering a campaign.

9. Yup, on LK last night, the Kennebunkport Kowboy promised he
would debate.

Yeah, sure--he's really pushing for them, I'll just bet!

10. Last Night...Several Times
Tweety ran some of it, so did Faux. Even worse, these were used in "news stories" that means these assholes got free advertising...thousands and millions of dollars of free time to continue their lies and slander. And, be assured every time this story continues to play...especially if O'Neill and his thugs are allowed to continue popping up on TV shows or they're scoring points with this issue, the ad will continue to play. That was the RoveCo intentions in the first place...get it played endlessly, like the Dean Scream...on the cable food fights.

Team Kerry has not effectively responded to these attacks and the media has now allowed this slime to be legitimized. Sorry folks, damage was done and is still going on as long as Kerry's past military record is being looked at while this regime's isnt...past and present. O'Neill is playing hatchet/strawman and there's no one on the Kerry side to counter him effectively.

This is a desperation move by the GOOP as they are losing credibility and support in the miltary. They can't run on a record, and won't discuss the future. These elements (and not Bunnypants AWOL) should be used to counter these liars. If needs be, put out ads showing the connections of O'Neill and Corsi and the various Houston groups and the national network of "journalists" and "activists" who are employed to slime and lie.

8. I agree
Does anyone remember the Daisy Girl ad? The original attack TV ad that showed the little girl picking the petals off a daisy while a countdown went on and then a mushroom could arose and there was an LBJ voiceover?

I believe that ad only ran once. But it generated so much buzz it was exposed to everyone. And the ad just crystallized what everyone was worried about with Goldwater -- that he was trigger happy.

Sometimes ads work at the subconcious level, even though the facts within them might be ridiculous. So just saying that this Sift Boat slander ad has been disproven isn't enough.

And what about bringing back the Daisy Girl ad this year -- updated of course to apply to Bush?
