Bush: "it's the thought that counts" re 7 minute delay in activity in FL
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 08:20 AM by AP
I just saw the clip of Bush on LKL in which he addresses the issue of him sticking around to hear the end of (Bush donor Random House's) My Pet Goat (while looking like his head was full of nothing but confusion).

Now, it's hard to decipher what Bush means. Intentionally, he tries to be cipher. You're supposed to fill whatever meaning you want into his meaningless statements. I suppose it helps right wingers to like him. But it makes things difficult for anyone who is trying to understand what he really means.

In response to LK's Q about the 7 minutes of nothing, he seemed to be saying that it doesn't matter what you do, so long as, in your heart, you have resolve to do something. He said something to suggest that he spent that time thinking about the revenge he was going to extract.

He cared more about getting revenge than he did in making sure there would be as few American deaths as possible to avenge?

Well, I guess it's the thought that counts, eh?

1. Did he stop to think that...
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 08:14 AM by skypilot
...he was a sitting duck and so was everyone around him, including those children? Thoughts of revenge won't do you a damned bit of good if you're dead.

Besides, he's lying as usual.

3. It's the thought that counts.
My wife would let me off with that cop out if I told her I was thinking of her while banging my secretary.

Does he think we're as stupid as he is?

4. This Is What Confuses Me
They said when the first plane hit, they didn't know anything. For all anyone knew at that point, it was an accident or something.

Between that and when he's inside the school, my understanding is that he doesn't know a damn thing about anything.

He's in the school reading that fucking goat book and someone whispers that we're under attack.

He sits for seven minutes. How in the blue blazes does he know what kind of attack we're having at that point? Last night on LKL, from what was posted here, is that he's thinking about how to retaliate against Al Qaeda. How does he know that?

Am I missing something here or is shrub screwing up?

What about this site which says he's lying about the attacks?

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/bushlie.html

It seems to me he didn't know crap and now he's making all this up as he goes a long.

Cyn:)

5. That, or he knew too much about something that still should have been...
...confusing.

Not saying that he plotted it. But the guy stands down on defense all summer, asks people to stop investigating middle east terrorism, Ashcroft tells people he doesn't want to hear anything about terrorism at all (and instead sues people trying to defraud McDonalds in their promotional game marketing crap -- a case which fell apart on apeal a couple weeks ago).

So Bush gets the slightest details, and now on LKL he suggests that he was spending that 7 minutes thinking about getting revenge on terrorists? Yeah, he probably could have figured out the whole thing considering what he HADN'T been doing all summer.

6. Figuring out revenge on an unknown terrorist group?
Come on. Bush can't figure out which end to wipe without Cheney next to him - and he's telling us he figured out who it was with just a whisper in his ear.

7. That's Right...
He didn't even know how to pronounce Al Qaeda let alone be able to realize they were the ones attacking us. His first thought when he got back to the White House was Iraq (Richard Clarkes book). So was he thinking of Iraq?

No, he was trying to figure out how to do his job and he couldn't come through.

9. I saw the clip on the news and cracked up laughing
Literally, while this LKL broadcast was going on, CNN headline news was showing clips---not too obvious there. Anyway, the only thing that took Bush more by surprise with the same zombie stare as Card telling him "we're under attack" was his reaction to King bringing up this 7 minute brain fart!!! He said he was collecting his thoughts and that it didn't take him long to figure out that we were under attack and to formulate a plan. Hey, dumber than dumb asshole, Card TOLD you we were under attack--does it take things 7 minutes to get from your ear to your brain!!! And what was the great plan of yours, boy??---was it "hey, get me on a plane and get me the hell away before someone kills me"?? Was the plan to hide out for the day and leave the American people in the dark?? Or was the plan a few days later to get to NYC for a photo op??? You good for nothing loser.

12. Or was the plan, "Damn, there's going to be a congressional investigation
into this; how can a hamper it?" Or, "Damn, the families of the victims are going to want to know how this happened. How can I get the media not to listen to them. Relax, that won't be too hard. "

Very well written!
