Today's CBO Report Proves Bush's Tax "Cuts" Screwed Middle Class
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A61178-2004Aug12.html
Since 2001, President Bush's tax cuts have shifted federal tax payments from the richest Americans to a wide swath of middle-class families, the Congressional Budget Office has found, a conclusion likely to roil the presidential election campaign.

The CBO study, due to be released today, found that the wealthiest 20 percent, whose incomes averaged $182,700 in 2001, saw their share of federal taxes drop from 64.4 percent of total tax payments in 2001 to 63.5 percent this year. The top 1 percent, earning $1.1 million, saw their share fall to 20.1 percent of the total, from 22.2 percent.

Over that same period, taxpayers with incomes from around $51,500 to around $75,600 saw their share of federal tax payments increase. Households earning around $75,600 saw their tax burden jump the most, from 18.7 percent of all taxes to 19.5 percent.

1. This was by design so it should come as no surprise. Sadly more
than 50% of those most adversely impacted will likely vote for GWB in November.

2. Yep - Just Chickens voting for Colonel Sanders
I have this picture in my mind:

"I know I've lost my job of 20 years, my taxes have actually gone up, my son is fighting in Iraq over a lie, but Bush is a good Christian man"

Arg!

7. Maybe that's what Billy Graham's "Pray for God's choice to be elected on
Nov. 2" column was saying, to wit: Since Bush is a good Christian man, his pre-emptive war(s), all the killings, maimings, and destruction, and torture must be the will of God. I once queried my wife "were maybe Pat and Jerry the anti-Christ?" to which she replied, no they were not important enough and she was then correct. But what if the Pope were wrong in his reported identification of the anti-Christ and Billy were added to this mix forming a formidable triumvirate for the honor?

3. These numbers are meaningless
To the mass of Republicans.
The ones who understand them don't care about the unfairness. The ones who do not understand them will just think of it as elitist Washington gobbledy-gook.

4. People are too stupid to realize that.
Bush just says, "I cut taxes," and the masses say, "Yeah, Bush!"

6. Part of a 40-Year Trend
Sad to say that Democrats have been complicit in this as well as Republicans.
