Donating: can't give to Kerry, who should we send money to?
We've got the GOP convention coming up - they can continue to rake in money and command the media, while we cannot (give directly to Kerry).

Someone posted today - the media is Kerry's Number 1 opponent! The Kerry Campaign will not be spending much money for advertising during August. Who will?

Should we send money to the DNC, Move On, Dean's Dozen or what? Is there a list of groups who need our help/money?

2. Give to the DNC. They use the money to help Kerry-Edwards.

3. Here's what Princeton Prof Sam Wang has to say
"I originally did this calculation to help think about how to allocate my campaign contributions. I believe that one can make the biggest difference by donating at the margin, where probabilities for success are 20-80%. To read a discussion click here. Since trends are in Kerry's favor and the Senate is within reach, I recommend that Democrats give to the DSCC and to the Senate campaigns of Inez Tenenbaum (D-SC), Betty Castor (D-FL pre-primary), and Chris John (D-LA). Note: Since Tony Knowles (D-AK) is ahead in 8 of the last 9 polls, he currently fails my 20-80 test.

For those of you still wanting to reinforce the national election (see the bias analysis below), I recommend the voter registration and turnout organization America Coming Together. For the optimists there is the DCCC. To point out the obvious, the converse interpretation of these calculations for Republicans is currently to direct resources toward retaining their majority in Congress."

I did send $50 to DSCC the other day, but now I really want www.moveonpac.org to get some of their Errol Morris commercials on the air during the RNC, so I'm directing funds to them.

I'm no political expert, but I think this last one is my favorite money dump right now.

8. It won't happen
I highly doubt we could kick DeLay out of office, and though it would be awesome, I think the money is best served elsewhere.

9. True, but there's always hope...
I live in McDermott's district and he's got a 99.9% lock so I like giving to a lock shot which would have high impact.

6. Your local congressional rep (or challenger)
These candidates usually have "boots on the ground" in a way that no presidential campaign can match. As long as they're Democrats, they're spreading the same message as Kerry. Helping them helps Kerry.

10. Someone said this yesterday...
but it bears repeating: donate $$ to buy office supplies, or the office supplies themselves, to your local Democratic HQ.
Also, donate your TIME, if you can, to help canvass for votes, ect.
Host a house party!

11. Move On or ACT
Those are the two biggest 527's working on GOTV and voter education. They are big and they are organized. MoveOn is in the midst of a $5 million fund drive to organize a major volunteer GOTV campaign for previous nonvoters in battleground states.

You can also still give to the DNC, although frankly they aren't my favorite recipient.

12. Lots of choices, depends on your priorities, but here's another
Wes Clark has been one of our most effective media spokesmen for Kerry. There were many other good choices already listed above, but if you happen to be partial to Clark's message getting out, he has his own PAC that he is using to directly fund his campaigning for Democrats. More news about its activities are at its site, plus of course a link to donate.

13. Help out someone
or several someone's on the Dean Dozen lists.

I personally know three of them (Missy Taylor, Thurston Cromwell, and Nate Hogan, all in Kansas) and they are wonderful deserving candidates. All of the Dean Dozens are deserving of your donation.
