Dear Hillary Supporters: What has angered you most about Obama or his campaign?
Edited on Fri May-30-08 11:00 AM by Ian_rd
What is the worst thing Obama or people inside his campaign have said or done? I'm not referring to other people Obama knows who are not a part of his campaign, I'm not referring to people in the media, and I'm not referring to comments posted by some Obama supporters in DU's GD : P. I'm talking about Obama himself or people who are part of his campaign. What is the worst thing he or they have said or done? I'm looking for specifics that can be backed up. Thanks.

Edit: Oops, my GD-P syntax turned into a tongue smiley. Unintentional. My bad.

11. In my case, nothing. In fact,

I think your question presupposes such anger. This Clinton supporter, for one, saw her as a likely president some years ago and has stayed with that.
I don't think she will be the nominee and don't have particular anger about that; politics involves a lot of timing and circumstances.

Maybe I'm not alone?

12. The decision for his campaign to paint the Clintons as Racists
Edited on Fri May-30-08 12:20 PM by Marrah_G
They knew it was the only way to win.

They knew it was a lie.

They knew it was a stain that would NEVER go away.

All that is ever needed is hint of Racism to destroy a Democrat.

And yet they still chose to do it anyway.

Winning at all costs.

Then to add insult to injury they run around playing the victim, using outside sources to continue the assault on both Hillary and her supporters.

I am furious, so are many others.

All those things you people hurl at Hillary. Take a good realistic look at the Obama campaign.

Now you all can commence to flame me. Have at it.

16. And were you upset by Bill Clinton's "offhand" remark that Obama
would win SC "just like Jesse Jackson"--did he have to go all the way back to the 80's to come up with an example of a Dem candidate winning the SC primary? Why Jesse Jackson, a footnote in history, of all candidates to ever compete in SC?

17. Were you upset by Hillary surrogates expounding on Obama's middle name
and talking about madrassas and insinuating that Obama may have actually not just DONE drugs, but SOLD them? Where'd Bob Kerrey go, anyway? Never heard from him again, after his Hillary-commissioned "suicide run".

35. all I see is a collection of remarks by Clinton campaign people, ~without~ any commentary...
... from Obama or his campaign.

So the Obama campaign keeps tabs on what the opposition says about them. So what?

Are you saying that the Obama campaign shouldn't collect examples of their opponents' message? But ALL (competently-run) campaigns do this. And why shouldn't they?

22. The patronizing "You're likeable enough" really got under my skin.
Overall, I was most angered by Obama's "cult of personality" approach to campaigning. The bigger the crowd, the vaguer the speech, and people eat this stuff up.

Of course, I'll support whoever ends up being the Dem nominee. I just think Obama is in for a rude awakening.

23. Finally someone answered the question.
A specific reference! Yay! I considered that "likable" remark of his a little snarky, but not nearly as bad as a lot of other stuff flying around. As far as the "cult of personality," I agree that a great deal of Obama's success is his charm that has nothing to do with tangible presidential skills.

Good answer. Thank you.

24. I can make a list, but Obama dissing the 60's was the beginning for me.

Barack Obama: "I didn't come of age in the battles of the 60's. I'm not as invested in them." Reno Gazette, January 20th, 2008.

The 60's were the last great time of change, rebellion and growth, the beginning of the civil rights movement and the women's movement. People who "came of age" in the 60's are wondering where the youth movement is today.

Tom Hayden speaks out against Obama's remarks:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tom-hayden/an-appeal-to-barack-obama_b_71912.html

I also have a problem with nuclear power, something that he is for.

33. I understand that, but one day the future will be history.
It's all related. What happens tomorrow will effect what happens the day after.

When I look at this election, I see the fruits of the labor of the 60's.
I looked at our candidates and saw a woman, an African-American, and Latino and all I could say was
FINALLY! We finally got here. Politics aside, it really is a time to celebrate.

36. That's fairly incredible that you can take offense in that statement
Obama wasn't dissing the 60s, he was making a statement of fact based on his age. If there ever was a post indicating the "take hyper-offense" attitude that both sides have engaged in, this post is it.

32. Seems to me she played up her status as "first woman President" and milked
that feminist shtick at every opportunity. She ran a VERY gender-based campaign. And for the most part, there was NOT a sexist bombardment of her, DESPITE the fact that she ran a gender-based campaign.
