It makes it so much easier! :-)

And I don't have a need to pray for crap and light candles either!

3. Same here, although I think that guy said what a lot of people were thinking, and it had nothing
to do with religion.

6. My problem
Is with so called "organized" religions. A person can have faith in a higher power without having to accept all the rules and fanatical teachings that many organized religions teach. I also think that no church should get into politics, and when they do that pretty much turns them into what the Bible teaches that people should "NOT" do.

I have seen local churches split because of "politics" and it is really stupid. How can one be "no part of this world" as taught in the bible, yet bring politics into the church and have pastors or preachers telling the congregation who to vote for and who not to vote for. Those who do this should lose their tax free status, which I totally disagree with in the first place!

When I used to drink a lot at the bars, there was always a set rule not to discuss "politics, religion, or woman problems" those things would always get us in to heated arguments! Of course now I am a happy married family man and I have not used alcohol or drugs in over 22 years so I "can" talk about politics and religion, but sadly I still get "worked" up at times!

8. I have no issue with organized religion, as long as they pay taxes when participating in politics
Edited on Fri May-30-08 12:25 PM by sfam
If they want to engage in politics, cool - start paying taxes. Have all your flock's contributions show up as taxable income, and then have at it.

Lets be clear here - there have been TONS of loony comments in this campaign season from folks who were not preachers. The MSM has just latched on to a problem in our society - that we allow these folks to take part in political campaigns when they have no right to. Their platforms would disapear if they and their supporters had to pay taxes on their contributions.

Said another way, my political contributions to Obama were not removed from my taxable income. Neither should theirs if they engage in political speech.

15. Then they aren't churches but political organizations.
They should not get our tax dollars since they don't represent everyone. They are self interested.

12. I believe in God. I simply don't believe God has anything to do with religion.
Religion is entirely the creation of humans, who wish to use religion to control humans while they are here on earth, alive and well. It is not about any afterlife. That's the grifter's spiel, but they're about NOW. They're about controlling the actions of humans NOW.

I'd love to see all churches made FOR PROFIT entities, but that will never happen.

I'd love to see all churches banned from ever having politicians appear, but that will never happen.
