Malloy: CBS reports on loyalty oaths at Bush 'rallies'
he said that CBS ran a story on that, and the differences in the crowds: RIOT cops in Portland, standing behind FENCES to keep demonstrators away from the school inside which he and his invited gauleiters huddled

they MACED em in downtown portland a few years ago. the pictures are here someplace

anybody hear/see anything about this

it would be SO nice if, after almost FOUR years on nonreporting on this, these lazy pieces of you know what would finally report on something they see EVERY time he goes out!

is this nonstory the WORST case of media bias you can think of?

all they have to do is turn ON their recorders and cameras!

god, that makes me MAD!!!

1. I've Learned A Lot By Comming Here
...and now I'm bullshit. I found out that I'm not only bullshit, but I'm and liberal. Hopefully I'll be able to embrace my peaceful side again. Maybe sometime after Nov 2.

2. It definitely is a story.
CBS isn't too bad considering what the others are. I think Keith Olberman did a piece on this too this week. The past couple of days all it's been is McGreevey and Charlie all day. I don't usually listen but every once in a while it's good to keep tabs.

4. Nick Coleman is reporting it
on the MPLS Startribune's website. A sample:

"Only supporters got into the quarry where Bush spoke to a sanitized crowd of 7,000. Not one person carried a sign in protest. But one -- one -- listened without applauding. It was Walz, and his thoughts were his own, unless someone was scanning his brain.
"It was uncomfortable," says Walz, who joined the Guard at 17 and teaches geography at Mankato West High School. "Where else in America will you find 7,000 people who agree on anything?"

3. WRITE A LETTER & GIVE 'EM HELL
I'm working on a letter that I'm going to send to some of the media scumbags, it goes something like this:

Having seen almost no political reporting and commentary for almost 4 years due to my late Mother’s critical illnesses, I would like to share with you a few of my observations.

It is sadly apparent that the traditional roles of the reporter and news services are dead. Out of the ashes of the golden age of journalism, an anemic albatross rather than a phoenix has arisen.

Empowered yet impotent, timid reporters repeatedly fail to challenge and expose the duplicities of ALL our political leaders. When Bush split his crotch by praising Kerry’s war record on the one hand, yet refused to condemn the smear boat ad, no one seemed to notice. An objective examination of the Bush blabbers shows 2-5 times more flips than Kerry; and to many in the middle class, Bush is a total FLOP.

A fine form of comedy, political talk shows and the media would gain valuable perspective if it would raise up its head (from the kissing position a la Sen. John McCain). No favorites; equal treatment; and an attempt at honest reporting would be a refreshing change from the pusillanimous “party line” often seen polluting the airways. Exceptions exist, but they seem to be few and far between.

You will agree that single party control of the Executive and Legislative branches deprives America of most of the system of checks and balance system envisioned by the Founding Fathers. Tyranny may manifest as either acts of commission and/or omission. Those in the media who place convenience before courage, silliness before duty, arrogance before responsibility, and partisanship before patriotism serve to slowly suffocate democracy.

My name is ____. I am a veteran and a gun owner. What is notable is not my Doctorate in Political Science, or my Medical Degree, but the fact that I am old enough to remember when reporters and news services were aggressive and fair instead of being content to be the court eunuchs.

“It is a newspaper’s duty to print the news and raise Hell.”
The Chicago Times, 1861
