Has John Kerry Let The Bush Campaign DEFINE Him AND The Campaign?
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 11:58 PM by The Nation
In my opinion, John Kerry has allowed the bush/cheney campaign to define himself (john kerry) and the entire debate.

the president declared john kerry weak and the entire convention was about strength

the president challenged john kerry to be man enough to say he would still vote for war (at least thats what the media spins it as) even though there have been no WMD's found and john kerry took the bait.

if john kerry changes his statement on that now and says he wouldn't vote to give the president the authority to go to war the republicans will use his own words against him to label him once again as a flip-flopper.

John Kerry has let the RNC paint him as "negative" and "pessimistic" and so his campaign is all about being positive and not throwing negative attacks against the repubs. Yet, while they call him negative, they are in fact out there attacking him personally and negatively EVERYDAY. They have backed John Kerry into a corner so that if he does go negative NOW, they will use his own word of wanting to wage a "positive" campaign against him and call him once again a Flip Flopper.

it's a vicious cycle here folks, it's time to stop fighting a "sensitive" campaign and realise that karl rove and the repubs have DECLARED WAR on john kerry and the democrats and will do absolutely anything to win. unless we do the same, we will lose.

2. Then why is he ahead in all the key states?
A campaign can always be better, but so far Kerry has run a pretty damn good one.

Plus knowing that he has Iran-Contra and Noregia still up his sleeve makes me giddy.

3. My God what is wrong with you people...We are ahead in the
polls....somewhere between 50,000 and 60,000 people for Kerry in Oregon. What do you want. This is going to get dirty and we have to stay steady.

6. No one says WE aren't being steady...
it's not like there's any chance any of us isn't going to get to the polls and vote for kerry.

what do you mean by "steady"?

12. No kidding, if you are so worried about it call the campaign.
If things like BBV are getting to you call your congressmen.

I am very proud of how well Kerry is doing, people are fainting and swooning at just the sight of him, we are doing just fine.

11. Sure, thats why we're on course to beating the shit out of Bush...
7-9 points ahead in the swing states, 5-7% nationwide. Yeah, we're really desparate....Take this unproven negative bullshit somewhere it will be appreciated.

13. Ya know, I NEVER thought so many open minded people could be so mean...
in the past 20 minutes across multiple threads, i've been accused of being negative, a FREEPER, "mentally ill", having "no social life" and someone even went as far as to say "who needs enemies when we have friends like you".

What the hell is up people? I'm not attacking Kerry, the mere fact that i am posting my thoughts (which maureen dowd also talked about almost exactly on BILL MAHER tonight) proves that I WANT kerry to win, i HOPE he will, but is it absolutely out of my mind bone crushingly evil stupid and negative of me to suggest we could be waging a better campaign?

14. looking at it objectively, that's pretty accurate . . .
despite the polls (which don't mean crap at this point in the campaign), Kerry is getting his ass kicked lately . . . some of it's due to BushCo defining him and the issues, some of it's due to the media slanting everything toward Bush and not getting Kerry's message out, and some of it's Kerry's own campaign deficiencies . . . BushCo has him on the defensive, and that's not going to win anything . . . he needs to be setting the agenda and hammering Bush and his record, but just the opposite is happening . . . taking a little vacation about now is probably a good idea . . . I think a little re-grouping is in order . . . and maybe some new campaign strategists . . .
