11. I'll bet that's some statistics grad student's "pet" research question...
I think it is for fun, to see if there is any statistical correlation between responses and astrological sign. While I give it no major credence, I do think it is a fun thing to look at, and would be interested in the results. I hope we get to see them.

7. I've been particpating in poll
for a few years. Question that got me in this one, would you vote for tin man with a brain and no heart, or scarecrow with no brain and big heart. What is up with that? Are they reprsenting Kerry and shrub?

8. Bush's failures and accomplishments had same answers
Thinking about George W. Bush, what do you believe is his most significant accomplishment as president?

War in Iraq 9/11 Health Ins Unemployment Not Sure Refused
my answer: Not Sure

Thinking about George W. Bush, what is his most significant failure?

War in Iraq 9/11 Health Ins Unemployment Not Sure Refused
my answer: Iraq War

Obviously he failed at Health Ins and Unemployment also.

I guess this election comes down whether America thinks 9/11 and the Iraq War were accomplishments or failures for Bush. It is becoming clear that the Iraq is viewed as a failure so the only thing Bush can hope for is people's view of him in the aftermath of 9/11 - which was initially high but has sunk ever since.

9. This one's legit
Zogby is the only poll that seems to care about my opinion. I've been polled online by them for the last few years. I must say that some of the questions in this poll were rather bizarre. I hope the pepsi people are voting for Kerry.

10. Yes... I've been doing them for some time now...
Clearly, he's got commercial sponsors on this poll, since there are lots of questions about consumer preference (coke versus pepsi, etc). But, there are also some pretty interesting questions and this time (I think the first time) he is collecting zipcodes, which offers some chance of looking at a regional distribution of responses. While this is the ultimate convenience sample (people have to sign up in order to be considered), it appears zogby does a selection method of those who signed up, which makes it more meaningful. Given that "random digit" phone surveys are becoming increasingly unreliable (many younger voters have no "land phone," probable clear differences between those who answer and those who refuse, etc., etc), this method of survey may show promise for the future. I think Zogby is collecting the information needed to validate it as a possible "accepted" method for the future.
