Why only 1 VP debate?
I guess its SOP but, shouldnt we have pushed for another one this time? Edwards is going to wipe the floor with cheney's ass and Id like voters to see as much of that as possible. And its not like cheney is just a figure head in * admin, he's a co-president.

1. Don't be so over-confident. Cheney is a real SNAKE and a lot depends
on the moderator and how the debate is conducted. Cheney will not stop at niceties... he will do EVERYTHING necessary to win. Edwards will have to be prepared to deal with an "abnormal" person, not a normal human being.

2. Gwen Ifill is moderating
I think she will do just fine. You're right though, maybe I am underestimating cheney's tenacity but I cant help but think the voters are gonna see on one side, a shriveled up nasty war monger, and on the other, a good looking, always smiling hopefull orator.

We will see. Id still like to see 2 though. Practice makes perfect.

4. Yeah. I remember her performance during the dem primaries debates.
She was a real tool! She favored BUSH even when only democrats were at the podium.

5. cheney cutesy snake....
He's not going to have anything to defend. He'll use his snake charm and snear to make fun of Edwards. Like that Softballs Matthews said, cheney is not pretty but he can make the crowds laugh at the expense of his opponent. That is the scoop; democracy is laughable.

7. There's Always Been Only One VP Debate
Crashcart's best served from a distance. First, he have no idea what the debate formats will really be, who will be the moderator or other venue. Edwards may have Chenney dead-to-right on every issue under the sun, but if he looks "too nice" or allows Crashcart to lie and grandstand and play Mr. Nice Guy, Chenney could win the debate, like he did against Lieberman.

Chenney has a lot to answer to, but I'm not sure Edward's is positioned to really go after him. He's stayed out of the current frays and his "nice guy" image...which makes him wonderful to most of us, will make him look very weak along side a Crashcart who won't hesitate to lie and attack.

8. We also don't know what the questions might be.
Sure Cheney has a lot to answer for, but if the right questions aren't asked, he'll skate.

I forced myself to listed to a few minutes of one off his recent speeches when he was talking about the "sensitive" war clip. He wasn't nasty, didn't raise his voice, and he actually smiled, while making Kerry sound like a meek mild pussycat. That's what I expect to see from him in a debate too. As much as I hate him, he does have a quick mind and I think he's able to come up with those things on the fly.

I don't underestimate Edwards, but I've not seen the killer instinct in him that is necessary to deal with a Cheney.

9. That's Chenney's Big Weapon...
Mild, Meek...looks like the "grandfatherly type". I know...gag! But this is the image the media has painted of this goon that both insulates him from the goofiness of Bunnypants and allows him to say some of the bigggest lies and dangerous statements with little scrutiny.

Edwards may be a great trial lawyer and I'll bet he can close a case like no one's business, but I've seen him through the primaries and into the election season and see more a "man of the people" rather than a "fighter".

The original GOOP "trial lawyer" salvo appears to have further cowered Edwards into the background and defensive. The game has been to fashion Edwards as a populist...not a hatchet man. Problem is there are really no big guns going up against the RoveCo. machine.

10. Oh, I wouldn't say there aren't any big guns against RoveCo.
I've heard some really good comments from Biden, Dean, Kennedy, Clintonand several more. It's just that they aren't in the debates.
