Stop World War III: Vote for Kerry
Recent news reports of a major reshuffling of US military forces in Europe and Asia lead me to believe that the worst of the Bush plan for America is yet to come.

Pulling troops and armor off the continents of Europe and Asia for re-training in the US and subsequent deployment to bases under construction in Iraq is another indication of the pending invasion of Iran. It is also an indicator of what lengths this administration will do to avoid re-instituting a military draft in order to keep Average Joe America from getting involved and putting an end to this madness.

Kidding of course. I totally agree with your assessment, all one has to do is read PNAC to know what's next. :(

3. I think we are all responsible
each and every one of us as citizens had a duty to stop this war and many, like myself, went along with it. I feel I am personally responsible for Abu Grraib because I did nothing to stop it from happening. Evil has triumphed (for now) because good men did nothing.

5. i didn't support the war from day 1 for this reason (among many)...
I thought that us attacking Iraq would back him into a corner like a frightened animal and he would lash out having nothing to lose and use biological or chemical weapons on OUR TROOPS. I saw no need to whack a hornet's nest.

But now...MY MAIN REASON FOR NOT SUPPORTING THE WAR IS MOOT!

So now I am more anti-war than ever before, as there are not a hundred reasons why the iraq war is a debacle and a mistake. (i wish our presidential candidate could say the same)

6. What could you do?

All the screaming and protesting in the world has done nothing to curtail *'s war plans. Our problem is currently we have a government that does not fear the people. Rather the people fear the government.

4. Iran has been tossed around on the back pages a lot lately
If there is any connection between this and troop redeployments at all, we have the makings of another world reknown fascist dictatorship. We all know how we feel about those we fought against in two world wars, it's completely surreal that we are dangerously close to becoming the very thing we have historically despised.

7. stop ww3, yes. vote for kerry, yes. complacency, no.
I don't think it is a good idea to get complacent about Kerry saving us from a world war 3. It seems likely that a Kerry administration will be better than Bush's regarding militarism. But, the Kerry people mouth the same nonsense that the Bush people do on key points. Both talk about America leading the world. Both talk about winning a war on terror. Both talk about using the military to fight terrorism.

So, you can mimic the republicans and fill any vagueness in what the kerry people say, with optimistic fantasies, but I think it is better and in fact it is really fundamentally democratic (in the actually democratic sense), and your civic duty, to always assume the worst about your employees in the government.

Both Kerry and Bush suggest that they intend to continue to enflame terrorism around the world. I fear for the continued existence of humans on earth. I don't find much hope in whichever administration is next.

Essentially, it seems to me that the Kerry and Bush administrations are both suggesting that they will end our lives in an Armageddon, prior to which they will create a police state. However, the Kerry administration seems to be better on the environment, and to make it more likely that progressive forces have a chance to make inroads into political power. But, the first part, about ending our lives, kind of makes the rest a little irrelevant, unless we luck out. So, it's best to vote for Kerry.

I worry that the democrats may be having success at silencing dissent and getting people to actually change their own politics to be closer to Bush's, because they think that is what is required to get Kerry elected. The reaction I expect to get from this post, is what I used to only expect from republicans, i.e. attacks for not being lock-step with Kerry. And that is a very bad sign.

Only if you are involved in developing some specific propaganda for the kerry people, does it matter if the views you express match the party line. I do not believe that it hurts the kerry people's chances of winning the election, in any way, to be critical of their policies. In fact, I think it has a chance of hurting their chances, not to be critical.

The most sickening for me, is the attacks on people who suggest that the kerry people might do better at something. It is insane to attack people who are trying to make helpful suggestions, and try to get them to agree that everything is just fine the way it is.
