If you vote for Bush or Nader
you are either willfully ignorant or against democracy.

I am not wrong in this supposition.

If you think so, then feel free to flame away.

Ignorance is not bliss, but simplicity sometimes explains it.

1. If Bush is elected,
we're probably going to lose our country, either by destruction of the Constitution or by nuclear war.

2. Anyone who is thinking of voting for Nader should remember
Nazi Germany. Do you think the German populace was any different than we? They just kept allowing small incremental incursions on their liberties until it was too late.

4. I totally agree. Hitler won with about 17% of the vote, the fascists
stood together, while the leftists pursued perfection. :eyes:

3. definitions of a "democracy"
According to American Heritage dictonary:
1. "Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives."
2. "A political or social unit based upon democratic rule."
3. "The common people, esp. as the primary source of political power."
4. "Rule by the majority."
5. "The principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community."

I like the fifth definition especailly where it says, "respect for the individual within a community." I will say that in this election, which is the most important in my lifetime, in my opinion, that to vote for anybody other than Kerry is foolhardy. We need to get Bush's ass out of the WH. But I will defend the right of any citizen to vote their conscience. If they believe that Nader or Cobb or the Socialist or Natural Law candidate is the one who best reflects their principles they have that right as an American. I'm sorry but some people do believe this war is the greatest tragedy of our time and they will not support a candidate, no matter the nuances in Kerry's reasoning, who voted for the Iraqi Resolution. This is a matter of principle.

8. my guess is that the Nader vote will be substantially lower this
year than in 2000. For one, he will not be on as many ballots and second, in most states it is republicans who are signing to put him on the ballot, and they will vote for Bush in November. Too many progressives know that this election is too important to vote for a third party or to make a statement.

7. Isn't it undemocratic
to tell people that there is only one choice in a democracy?

Also, "leftists" aren't pursuing perfection, but a candidate who will reflect our views.
