Did Portland Suffer Davenport Syndrome...
Since Commander Bunnypants is busy chasing after John Kerry, money and now hurricanes...long after they're gone...we were wondering if something happened in Portland that occured when the manchild followed Kerry to Davenport, Iowa.

If you'll remember, Kerry had a large lakefront rally...Dim Son was is a pre-screen, pre-paid, pre-fabed photo-op. All of this was happening at the same time. This also gave some enterprising "bank inspectors" the opportunities to clear out 3 banks and make a clean getaway since the entire police force was trying to juggle the two campaigns and the gazillion hangers-on and media.

We were wondering if similar rises in crime occured in Portland or in other cities where the "Turning The Corner...Douchebags For Liberty Tour 2004" have appeared. Considering the manchild lives in a total bubble now, he must require a tremendous amount of local police and other services. Anyone know if this has been a problem elsewhere???

1. Highly Ironic

Bush gets s-elected in 2000 and 4 years later many of us have been robbed......Bush come to try and rob Kerry the spotlight and banks get robbed.....

Interesting

3. Interesting. I missed the info about banks robbed in Iowa.
I have not heard about anything like that here in Oregon, but I am not in Portland.

Both candidates require a huge entourage to visit a state - equipment, security people, support staff and campaign managers and workers. They also make heavy demands on the facilities and local people whereever they go. Police, Fire, emergency vehicles, buses, temporary fencing, barracades, sound equipment, all sorts of supplies.

In the Portland situation, Kerry's crowds were more than twice as large as expected which surely put an extra drain on the police department and others just to handle all the traffic diversions, parking for cars, moving the people, providing whatever facilities are needed for them including water on a 90 degree day. And of course extra security beyond what was planned.

It stands to reason that some normal police services might have gone short-handed.

4. I don't know but * stayed in the little Marriott in Redmond, WA the
other night. I mean this is like an Embassy Suite, nothing really fancy here. You would think he would be staying in Seattle at the Four Seasons or the Westin. Very puzzling

5. I don't know...
...but I do know that the local NBC affiliate pulled a fast one on viewers of the 11 o'clock news. She began coverage by telling how tens of thousands of citizens had attended events for Bush and Kerry. She never did separate out the fact that the tens of thousands were for Kerry, while Bush had a MUCH smaller meeting. A casual viewer would think the rallies were comparable.
