What happens if Osama is caught or killed before election day?
Or if not, KKKarl just decides to lie about it and they claim to have captured or killed him a day or two before, but there's not enough time to verify or disprove it? Do we need to prepare for these two possibilities?

1. Unfortunately, it's a Bush landslide
I've thought they've had him on ice for a while now, just trying to decide the right time for Bush to drag him out in chains for a national press conference.

4. Not necessarily
because so many people believe, as you do, that they're just waiting for the right political moment.

If enough people believe that, maybe a level of cynicism would rise up and vote him out. Maybe not... I dunno.

2. Too little, too late, too obvious
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 08:59 AM by Enraged_Ape
Bush could produce Amelia Earhart and the second coming of Jesus Christ a week before Election Day and it wouldn't do him any good. He will have to cheat to win, and he will. (Cheat, that is.)

3. We'd lose.
But he'd have to do it extremely quickly, like within the next month. If we get into mid-September, and still no Osama, my guess is that we'll never see Bush catch him (win or lose). Any later than that and it would look like the Bush administration playing political games with terrorism and 3,000 dead Americans.

7. Saddam hasn't help him
but, it depends on how close to the election it is. I will not change my vote and I doubt many DEMs would. It depends on the swing voters.

8. Agree...too late
Heard on TV some guy with Oberman, even if Ossama was caught it's too late. Al Quaida may be a gorilla warfare organization, but what has caught the US and the world by surprise is their suffiscate methods of using electronics. The US nor any country can brake their secret codes because the organization has developed its own language.

It could be that they had launched their own satellite into space and that is why their E-mails and telephone connections can't be traced. This war in Iraq has made the organization more powerful, harder to trace and has spread out throughout the world. bush lies when he says we're winning or we're safer. We are in worse danger. The Pakistans are getting paid millions to catch gorilla fighters, they themselves created and known about. It helps bush politically.

I found this information fascinating.

9. Actually I think it hurts Bush
It he is captured "out of the blue" in early october. He gets a bump and then the pres starts asking questions andthe rumor mongering begins. If there is reason at all to suspect that he was captured earlier or that they delayed capture to the right moment....the public will turn on him.

Any earlier than that the nation will return to domestic issues and Bush loses. Or heaven forbid....OBL becomes a Martyr and more attactks happen.

The only way Bush gets a big bump is that it happens after the Debates.

If the Pakistanis capture him there may not be a bump at all.

10. Hard to tell
it could give Bush a little bump and in a close election that could be enough. No landslide though. Bush is too unpopular with too many people to ever win a big victory.
