Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 10:21 AM by DancingBear
She/he has asked us to form an ORGANIZED group to funnel suggestions, info, etc. to the Kerry campaign. Watch the news shows, critique Dem performances on same, gather DU info and present it as a series of bulleted suggestions, etc.

Without trying to sound pretentious, I'd like to be a part of that.

Anyone else?

4. I think that an extended thread a la the "Plame" series would work.
I agree that it should start in the Activism forum. Would anyone like to start it?

I'll meet you all there.

5. The "prima donna of posts" syndrome won't allow the single thread to
function without control. People like their posts to have visibility and responses. If you have a humongous thread, there must be coordination and "enforcement" (sounds awful, but I think it would be required).

7. I'm in. Can we get going today? Did you guys read about Del Sandusky's
appearances for Kerry coming up this Wednesday? Look here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x622688#622692

What can we do to help him get his message out without being shot down and smeared by (apparently) organized FReepers?

8. I'll be glad to help when I can
As a single parent just starting a new teaching job, mother w/ Alzheimer's, and father w/terminal liver cancer, I've got little time to spare (and, in fact, should get off this computer ASAP). But I can write organize my thoughts, get to the issue, and write fairly well.

Yes, it's a GREAT idea & I'll do what I can to get ths band of thugs out of office. Please PM me if DUers can get something organized & let me know what I can do from there.

10. I need to step out for a bit
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 10:48 AM by DancingBear
But here are some thoughts for discussion re: talking heads/Dem appearances on the talk shows:

- we would need 2-3 people from DU per show (MTP, Late Edition, etc.) to monitor the show, take notes, etc.
- these folks would then formulate their concerns on "paper", send them to their agreed-upon spokesperson, who would then put said concerns into bulleted form
- group would review, make appropriate changes, and spokesperson would send off to Kerry campaign

NOTE: For the benefit of the Kerry campaign, this would have to serve as an "official" DU review of specified program - i.e. this review would be our input of what we liked/didn't like.

It will, of course, be a nightmare, but what the hell... :)

Comments??

13. How about going to Activism forum, doing one thread for each issue
From AZDemDist6's thread:

"Let's get our good researchers and writers to help Kerry's campaign with talking points for surrogates

Let's start with :

IRW vote
I'm open to suggestions on this one

Swift Boat Vets
This has been debunked well, let's bullet point talking points for it

Senate attendance (intelligence cmte ad)
newly breaking"

Start a thread for each one starting with D-S and a set of rules:

"This is not a discussion among ourselves or a flame war, this thread is for constructive suggestions for D-S."

I sent D-S a suggestion for what Kerry's response should be on the Iraq War Vote: "It is unfair/unwise to talk about how we got into this war while we have troops on the ground. We need to talk about constructive issues including how we get out of his war. Getting rid of Saddam was a great thing for the Iraqi people and others in the region and bringing democracy to the Middle East is a lofty goal. It would be more successful if we had the help of the whole world. With a clear slate, we could go to the rest of the world and say we all have an interest in bringing peace to the middle east. Bush said: "you are with us or you are with the terrorists" I'll say "we are all in this together, let's talk."

Think it would work?
