Bush's strategy of following Kerry everywhere: Has this been done before?
Obviously the intent is to "suck the media oxygen" from the air where Kerry is to minimize the press coverage of his giant rallies. It obviously works at least to some degree. But it's certainly fair game for the Kerry campaign to point it out and ridicule Bush for it. (I definitely think Bush playing "follow the leader" should be made a "talking point" on TV news.)

Is there any precedent for Dem or Repub candidates doing this before? If so, how successful was the strategy?

Can Kerry foil the strategy by changing up his itinerary ("head fake") as long as this doesn't foul up his own logistics too much? Is there any way to make a humorous game of it?

2. It may be a long-term gain for Kerry
Eventually, more direct comparisons can be drawn between the two and this works to our advantage. Size of crowds, freedom of admissions, and speaking ability, just to name a few. Bush's strategy is bound to fail.

4. We need to use this to our advantage in a talking point.
Rather than just make a joke out of bush playing Follow the Leader and move on, the Dems should point out that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and that Senator Kerry is honored to have the "President" of the United States follow his lead on the campaign trail.

3. It just shows that Bush is a follower, not a leader
He has no strategy other than attacking and sliming.
