Maria Smith is just the kind of voter the Republican Party wants to woo.
Smith, a Latina who moved to Santa Rosa from what she called south Texas "Bush Country" last year, said she is a pro-life Democrat. But she comes from a Republican family that was drawn to the GOP because of its conservative social platform.
"A lot of Latinos are Catholic and the church is pro-life," she said.
