WATERLOO, Iowa, Aug. 15 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Democratic Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards Sunday met with families in Waterloo, IA, where he discussed the Kerry-Edwards plan to build a stronger economy by bringing down the costs of health care.
With middle-class families and small business across the country squeezed by skyrocketing health care costs, Edwards today pledged that a Kerry-Edwards administration will fight for an affordable health care plan that helps families get ahead and businesses create jobs.
When Americans go to the doctor or pay their health care bills they don't think about whether they are Republicans or Democrats and politicians shouldn't think that way either. However, there are three key pieces of health care legislation that have broad bipartisan support that the Bush Administration has refused to sign: a real patients' bill of rights, prescription drug reimportation from Canada, and federal funding for stem cell research.
These reforms would make a real difference in people's lives and with the president's support would become law today. John Kerry and John Edwards understand that America is facing a health care crisis and that Americans are looking for leadership that brings people together to solve these problems. A Kerry-Edwards administration would sign this important legislation and would work to make health care affordable for all Americans.
