On NPR today she said the Kerry was a flip-flopper because he's using Senator's language in not answering the question, would you vote against IWR knowing as you do now that there are no WMDs. Says that he should just say no. Says he's costing himself the votes of the base (which explains how he's pulling ahead in the polls???).

It sounded more like wishful thinking than a reflection of reality. However, it did remind me of some stuff I hear at DU.

1. I was thinking as I was listening that if they are going to have Cokie
If they are going to have her "political analysis" every Monday then they really should have Carville on too.

Did you also notice their other story- that while Republicans have always complained about liberal media, now Democrats are complaining, and it just goes to prove that the media is even-handed after all.

10. Isn't that amazing. The RW has never been able to substantiate its claim
of a liberul media, but now that the Dems are telling the truth about the media, it comes out a wash and the media is OK.

Hmmm. Nobody on the right foresaw that, eh. That couldn't have been their motivation for calling the corporate press liberal, could it be?

No, that's way too complicated an analysis for NPR to make.

Anyway, Cokie's parents were dems, so she's liberal, which makes NPR an example of the fair and balanced news media.

2. yes, it reminds me of that also...
then i read something that helped explain (at least to me) some of the stuff i hear at DU also. Google viral marketing. if it is worth it to a cocmpany that stands to make a few hundred thousand, why wouldn't it be worth it to someone standing to make a few hundred billion?

4. Cokie the opinion maker
I missed her sermon this morning. Thanks for filling us in. It sounds like she wants to keep this favorite GOP talking point alive.

It sounds like you have the makings of a terse comment for Mourning Edition's mail box. I sent NPR a hot critique of one of Cokie's shameless distortions last year and I swear I did not hear any gross lies out of her for three months.

6. her real, unvarnished cluelessness was revealed........
on Bill Maher's second show of this season

a terrible show, that episode, brought down by total lack of chemistry between her, Bob Barr, Steve Harvey, and Maher

cokie was particularly vapid and out of touch, even moreso than her National Petroleum Radio blatherings (and embarrassing occasional appearances on Stephie's THIS WEAK) demonstrate

it's so hard to find the bottom of the barrel with all these media swine, but she's certainly feeding down there amongst the Novaks, the Humes, and the Crowleys

7. Expanded-Basic Cable TV is dreadful of late
It seems that you have to pay the extra premium for HBO to get the good programming. I see all these stories about the Sopranos and Sex and the City and only wonder. My friend tells me about Bill Maher's show and I am envious. Is HBO worth the extra money?

8. yeah, except for Sex and the City.....puerile tripe
lousy writing, overacting at every turn

that's not even on anymore....it's on some free cable channel, without the potty words that attracted all the overblown attention

haven't watched any of it

check it out on TBS, I think. see if you can watch for more than thirty seconds

SPOOJ!

11. HBO is the only channel I watch for "programming"
Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Wire...the best damn shows on television, bar none. And if you miss the original air date, you don't have to wait for summer re-runs...they rerun the show four hours later, or the following night. The movie selections are weak (after Blockbuster, after Pay PerView...if you go to the theaters much, you'll never see anything new on HBO). Their original programming is top shelf. The old Band Of Brothers (now on DVD) was probably the best series I've ever seen. If you can get it standalone, do it. Here they sell it is part of a package...I get EIGHT different HBO's...I'd rather just get the "real one" without HBO for Chicks, HBO for Kids, HBO for Latinos, HBO for Art-House Fans, HBO for Pacific Coast...it's really rather silly, but what the hell. In general, HBO has the only programs on teevee worth watching (Besides the Daily Show, natch!)

16. Cokie didn't answer the question she was asked!
She was asked what effect the Iraq War was having on the Bush campaign. I thought she completely blew by that and went into a critique of Kerry. She definately has her own agenda!
