New Zogby Natl Poll: 50% Kerry 43% Bush, Kerry pulling ahead in..

Kerry is ahead 47% to Bush 43% if you throw in Nader and Libertarian candidates.

Without, Kerry 50% to 43%.

Interesting snips:

When asked if President Bush "deserves to be re-elected", 43% of likely voters responded positively, while the majority (53%) still says that it is "time for someone new."

Pollster John Zogby: “Kerry leads in the Blue States by 17 (54%-37%) while Bush leads in the Red States by 6 (47%-41%). Good news for the President: he is back to attracting 86% of Republicans, while Kerry gets 79% of the Democrats. However, Kerry leads 49% to 31% among Independents.

Kerry leads among all age groups except 30-49 year olds, where the two candidates are pretty much tied. Catholics give Kerry a 50%-37% edge – numbers more similar to Clinton’s leads in 1992 and 1996 than Al Gore’s 51% to 46% margin in 2000. Protestants are for Bush (57% to 33%), especially on the strength of the President’s 68% to 20% margin among Born Again Protestants.

The two candidates are in a dead heat among self-identified members of the investor class – Kerry 45% to Bush’s 44%. Bush won this group by double digits in 2000. Not only has this group shrunk from almost half of all voters to only 31%, but Bush is now tied among a group he will need for victory.

Kerry also way up among women voters!

:toast: Another positive poll for Kerry.

2. I love that American Catholics aren't buying their shite
He is too closely aligned with the fundamentalist rightwing protestants who think the pope is the anti-christ and that Catholics are idolators.

As for women preferring Kerry. Duh. In addition to his pro-choice stand, I think we have the little missus to thank. He obviously doesn't have a problem with smart, intelligent women. Who among us wants to identify with a stepford wife or be led by a man who is married to one?

5. Sort Of Like The Bush Supporters

I'm not catholic or xtian, but your statement is disgusting...Are you sure you're on the right board?

12. What the hell's the matter with you?
That statement doesn't hold any factual basis. The only catholics likely to vote for a candidate because they are Catholic are so right-wing that they will vote for Bush.

7. Remember though..
The election is a few months away and while I'm sure Kerry does lead Bush, we still need to stay united and make sure that nothing like 2000 ever happens again. This poll number is reassuring, but it's important that we don't loose our momentum.

9. So do we expect * to get a HEUUUGE
bounce from the RNC convention? Are we going to be disappointed when he doesn't? What do we expect and who do we tell our expectations to?

11. "Bush RNC bounce should be 10-15%"
That's the headline I want to see. So when he gets no bounce the media can mock his campaign (too).

Frankly, I don't see how he could a bounce since a convention is to energize your base and he is already at 90% repuke support.

I see actually a small bounce from the "FLA mini-9/11" unless he totally politicizes the hurricane.

15. we need to get the word out...
Bush 15% bounce expected from the RNC.

However, fat chance for the media to mock his campaign when it gets no bounce. I'm sure we'll see Democrats like Lieberman & Miller giving responses to RNC talking points, whereas the Republicans had Ralph Reed and the like.

13. Another positive poll for Kerry
Interestingly enough, yesterday I heard Juan Williams on NPR saying that the latest Gallup poll has the Texas Swingbag at over 50%. I was under the impression that NPR was supposed to unbiased but obviously since they fear for their funding they've become another mouthpiece for the Repukes. We DO need to keep the mo' rolling, Juan Williams and his bootlicking we can do w/o!

18. Wall Street Journal, Polling Report.com use Zogby polls...
others don't because Zogby has had Kerry ahead basically since May, and his reports are very detailed so apparently the media doesnt want to believe the race isnt as close as they want it to be.

Rush Limbaugh LOVED Zogby polling reports when the Clinton/Monica scandel broke and showed Clinton's approval ratings dropping...

Now he won't touch them because every zogby poll, including zogby battleground state polls show Kerry pulling away.

16. Yahoo has it; others completely ignore it?
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1506&ncid=696&e=7&u=/afp/20040816/ts_alt_afp/us_vote_poll

I checked the homepages of ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC -- nothing. They all have news of Chimp moving troops around and how that'll help him. Yet when he's 2 points up, they shout it from their rooftops.

I know, I know, polls don't mean much, but it'd be nice to see a little "bandwagon" forming -- crowd sizes, polls -- and see the media publish it.
