Anybody want to have fun replying to a sad Letter to the Editor?
Here is the kind of pathetic shit that ends up in my podunk newspaper in the middle of the Mojave Desert. As you can see they publish just about anything, so anybody who shot off a response would likely be published. As sad as this is, it should be like shooting fish in a barrel to any of us who argue against this stuff daily on these boards.

Is John Kerry the right man to lead America?

Editor:

Who would have thought 50 years ago that a man who was born to money would also be running for President of the United States?

Who would have thought that same man would be on his soapbox along with Jane Fonda and other Flag burners, cutting the ground out from under our ground troops fighting a war?

That same man also stands for abortion, same-sex marriages, taking God and crosses out of federal buildings, along with many Godly things out of the Constitution, which has been the foundation of this nation for over 225 years.

It has been said, "Make a sheep the leader of a pack of lions and the battle will certainly be lost. Make a lion the leader of a pack of sheep and the battle will be won. "

Has this country stooped so low that we can no longer tell right from wrong?

It appears we are near that threshold.

the rest here (unfortunately). I can't tell if it's pinched more from Bill O'Reilly or Jerry Falwell:

I haven't seen many letters published from out of town (though I have seen some), so I don't know if they print them sparingly or, more likely, nobody from out of town reads this shit and responds to it. So if you want to play it safe you can just say you're from "Ridgecrest" when sending it in, since they do require that you submit your name and location.

Send letters to the editor to: editor@ridgecrestca.com

I'd love to see what a DUer can come up with. I've started on mine already.

2. Wow, my mom's cousin lives in Ridgecrest
She's a repuke, and it sounds like the town is full of them.

He loses me at the first line - what, Bush wasn't born to money? News to me.:eyes:

4. I totally agree...
I think they get together at the cross burnings here and pass around the "insert liberal candidate's name here" letters that consist of about 3 paragraphs of uninformed, generic, liberal-bashing shit, then go into the real fire and brimstone agenda. WTF??

5. And yes, Ridgecrest is full of repukes...
It's a very conservative military town (the town didn't exist until 60 yrs ago when the Navy built a bombing range 100 miles into the desert out of Bakersfield) and many of the retirees who worked and served here have come back to die, and write letters to the editor. Very much a BPOE/VFW town with a flagpole in front of every other house and multiple flags/God bless America stickers on just about every car but mine. I've only got my Bush/Orwell 2004 sticker, that people don't seem to understand here. They ask, "How can you have a Bush sticker as well as a 'Vote Republican: It's easier than thinking' sticker?" "And who's Orwell? Is Cheney not running this time?" Sad.
