1. Are you saying that the backlash

will lead to isolationism? If not, I don't understand your point.

I don't agree anyway. While I myself think military noninterventionism is a good policy that would have served us well had we not abandoned it in the post-World War II era, I think there is a critical mass of military-industrialists controlling our country and its economy that it doesn't matter how "isolationist" the public sentiment becomes. They will continue to "project American power" until some other power effectively fights back.
