Kerry Maintains Lead In New Maryland Poll
http://www.thewbalchannel.com/news/3658916/detail.html

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- A new statewide poll shows little change in the presidential race in Maryland, with Democrat John Kerry continuing to hold a substantial lead over President George W. Bush.

the poll by Gonzales Research & Marketing Strategies of Annapolis, Kerry was favored by 53 percent of voters and Bush by 40 percent. There was little change from a poll two months earlier which gave Kerry a lead of 52 percent to 38 percent.

The telephone poll of 847 registered voters was conducted Aug. 10 through Aug. 15. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Bush's job approval rating improved, although only 43 percent of those polled said they think he is doing a good job compared with 51 percent who disapproved. The numbers were 39 percent approving and 54 percent disapproving in the June poll.

2. Poll shows that Bush's approval rating is improving
We need to work on decreasing Bush's approval ratings or they will be in re-elect territory by November.

8. What poll? Link?
The majority of polls, Gallup is an outliAr, show Kerry increasing his lead. IF * is making miniscule approval gains, that's not translating to votes.

3. I live in the Maryland suburbs of DC
In 2000, I saw a lot of Bush bumper stickers on cars, but just a smattering of Gore bumper stickers. The Republicans were a minority around here, but they were very active. This year it's just the opposite, lots of Kerry stickers and very few Bush stickers. What's even more impressive, I'm seeing a lot of anti-Bush bumper stickers ("Re-defeat Bush", "Some village in Texas is missing it's idiot" etc).

It's so nice to know there are so many of us!

5. I used to live
in Clinton, MD...it was a general mix as far as I can tell back in 98 when I left for AZ...now I have family that still lives in Montgomery County and they and many of their friends are Repub's...die hards...

But...I was talking to a friend of mine who cannot stand BushCo and he tells me that he is seeing many many Kerry stickers, yard signs, etc...

6. Yay for Maryland!!
I live in Maryland, too. I was shocked to realize how many people I know here actually are Republicans, but the state overall is true "blue."

Just the occasional real jerk in a pickup truck with confederate flags. And sorry about that Keyes guy! :)

7. I love Maryland, my former home state
I grew up in White Marsh/ Perry Hall area. I'm sure that's a republican pocket nowadays but the state is great.

9. What only 53%?
Seriously, the population centers of Montgomery, PG and Baltimore City are more than reliably democratic. Sure there are outlying pockets of Republicans...mostly in the rural areas, but this is an easy win state for the left. I recall Bush getting something like 38% last time...
