Crossfire: Keys is a "real" African-American and Obama is not.....
I'm listening to Keys focus on his passion of the day....payment for slaves; reformation compensation. Well, it sounds like he is trying to sell the fact that his American ancestors are black, and were slaves wherein Obama's American roots are white so....Key's is a better example of an American black man......

1. Is Keyes actually clinically insane?
I mean seriously. Where the hell does he come up with this stuff? Is he really that desperate for relevancy?

Keyes fits right in.

4. Oh, yes. A "real" American black man...
... who can stand up and say "those people" don't deserve the same rights as "the rest of us" because that's how "God says it should be."

Uses the vocabulary of the slave owner to assault gay and lesbian citizens.

Really, I know this guy's a joke, and that he drags the repugs a little lower every time he opens his mouth. But even so, there's a part of me that is just rooting for him to get run over by a large truck. What a vile despicable, horrible little man. :puke:

7. He's still on that? He's been saying that since Sunday!
One would have hoped his handlers would have gotten him to chill after this exchange on ABC's This Week:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=629037&mesg_id=629037

Oh, right, a sentence with both "Keyes" and "chill" in it doesn't parrese...

9. What handlers?
Keyes' ego couldn't handle the thought of handlers.

Besides, I think the GOP planned a budget on this campaign of $3.50.

8. The 'True Scotsman' fallacy ....
No true scotsman puts sugar in his porridge ...

No true African American would resist Keyes nomination, because he is 'racially pure', unlike that halfbreed Obama ...

Is THAT how it goes ? ..

My goodness: Isnt that blatant racebaiting ? ..

12. If Keyes was a "real" African-American
Edited on Tue Aug-17-04 04:43 PM by DesertedRose
He'd acknowledge that he's probably got white ancestry down the line too (albeit involuntarily, via the common slaveholder trend of raping slaves). Quite a few "real" African-Americans do (like Frederick Douglass).

He needs to read "Slaves in the Family."

29. the interesting this is
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 02:45 AM by SemperEadem
no African American at this day and age really knows for sure who his ancestors were beyond the last 130-160 years because the white slaveowners didn't feel that a being who they regarded as no better than an animal needed or deserved any documentation on who his/her parents are.

So, Keyes wouldn't know, either. At least Obama knows he's Kenyan-American... none of the rest of us knows what country our ancestors were stolen out of.

He knows that he couldn't possibly defeat Obama intellectually or in debate so he resorts to this pettiness.

15. Political Satire Dies Another Death

My first reaction upon hearing the IL GOP picked Keyes was a memory of the governor's idiot son in O' Brother, Where Art Thou? suggesting they "get a little fella' even smaller than their little fella'" in response to the oppositions use of a midget on their campaign to represent the "little people". I laughed as I pictured some clueless WASP suggesting "why don't we get a black fella' even darker than their black fella".

But as with Jon Stewart finding it impossible to say anything about a typical Bush speech that is more ridiculous than the speech itself, it turns out my satirical picture of the Right has proven to be a true picture. Political satire is dead.

26. Oh, yes indeed but....the spin is
he did not come from a slave heritage....like Key's roots....thats why he is taking the "Johnny Cochran" approach to slave reformation compensation.

I guess he wants to mislead black Americans into thinking he is more like them than Obama is.......Obama can't know what it has been like.

I guess Key's never read Obama's book!

27. Since I seriously doubt that Keyes is receiving funding from the IL R's,
I think we should hold a fund raiser.

Everyone send him a check for 25 cents.

Don't forget to demand a receipt!
