I just sent this email to Candy Crowley

Dear Ms. Crowley,

How did it ever come to this? I can recall, not too long ago, when you were a political reporter, ostensibly devoid of bias (at least on camera, where it mattered) and looking to cover a story from all angles, incumbents be damned.

Well, times have certainly changed, haven’t they? What we now see is Example A of Journalism 101 – the dreaded “don’t let this happen to you.” How DID it happen, Candy? When exactly did you decide to throw your journalistic credentials out the window in exchange for chance to be part of the “in crowd” at 1600? Was it really worth it, knowing now that you find yourself in the rather unenviable position of being yet another former reporter who now answers the Presidential jump question not with “why”, but with “how high.” Don’t you remember when CNN actually stood for something, or is the lure of a front row seat on the big plane just too much to pass up?

Try and remember, Candy, back in the days when your integrity mattered. As we sit here in what many call the election of our lives, you disparage Kerry with barely disguised vitriol, while making sure the carpet for the incumbent is just the right shade of red, and littered with flowers. Kids are dying overseas Candy, but we do need to know John Kerry’s eating habits. The economy is hemorrhaging jobs, but let’s delve into how Kerry is raising money. Our president has lied with impunity for almost four years, but how will Teresa help or hurt her husband’s chances?

I’m old enough to remember real reporting, Candy – you should be too. Somewhere deep within you there still must hidden the heart of someone who got into journalism to make a difference, and to tell the truth. I remember seeing her.

For the sake of every one of us, could you please bring her back?

Miss Crowley,

You're probably too young to remember the envigorating 1960's and the song, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" But trust me, if one compares the quality of news coverage then to that which afflicts us today, one has to have grave concerns about our future as a democracy.

It is well-recognized that the first characteristic of any dictatorship is subversion of the mass media followed by infringement of individual civil rights. Anyone scrutinizing performance of the news media will readily conclude, in the words of Dr. Henry Lee, "something rong wid picture."

Empowered yet impotent, rabbity reporters repeatedly fail to challenge and expose the duplicities of ALL our political leaders. When Bush split his crotch on Kerry’’s war record, no one seemed to notice. An objective examination of the Bush blabbers shows far more flips than Kerry, plus a long list of broken promises and policy failures killing Americans, depleting resources, and wasting billions of dollars.

The refusal of all loyal citizens and especially the news media to condemn Bush's unprecedented slanderous campaign of maggot-mouthed politics, back-stabbing, and negativity is shameful and un-American.

Seems like all the flower have died, and that the news media is no more than an incubator of Bush-Cheney rotten eggs. God Help America.
