Rasmussen - Missouri: Obama 43% McCain 42%
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Missouri shows that Barack Obama and John McCain are essentially even if the race for the Show-Me State’s Electoral College votes. Obama currently attracts 43% of the vote while McCain earns 42%. This survey was conducted Tuesday night, the night that Obama clinched the Democratic nomination.

That’s a big improvement for the Democrat who trailed McCain by six percentage points a month ago and fifteen points in March...

The new poll shows the number of voters who say they will cross party lines has already started to decline. Just 13% of Missouri Democrats currently say they will vote for McCain, down from 21% a month ago...

4. Hope You Are Right, Sir
Former slave states worry me, whether they made it into the Confederacy or not, in this coming election. Hopefully St. Louis will pull us through, as it did back then....

3. The number of Dems that say they will vote for McCain will only go down from this point on
Also, when Hillary begins to campaign for Obama, that number will go down at a faster pace. The number of Dems that say they will vote for McCain peaked in the last month because of the bitterness in the hard-fought primary. This poll proves it. Excellent news!! :bounce:

5. Some warning signs about Obama's numbers here
Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 03:32 AM by woolldog
2/12 he was receiving 40%, 3/24-38% 5/6-41% and 6-03-43% with a large number "undecided.". That's pretty constant and it doesn't show that he's made great inroads.

Second warning sign is that he has unusually high unfavorables in this state. 32% of those surveyed had a "very unfavorable" opinion of Obama, compared with 17% for McCain. 56% view McCain favorably; 48% Obama.

I'm not seeing a lot of upside for Obama in this state.
