Troop withdrawal: ulterior motive?
Has it occured to anyone besides my tinhat girlfriend that the reason they are moving troops back to the states is in anticipation of a declaration of martial law/coup 2004?

Barring that, a domestic roundup post- election of anyone remotely connected with opposition to Bushco?

6. My less tinfoil hatish opinion is
Bush is still pissed that he didn't get Germany's support over Iraq and has decided to make them sweat it out, the "uniter" that he is. :eyes:

7. That did occur to me!
I gave in briefly to my inner conspiracy theorist, and I got the idea that maybe Bush is bringing troops back from Europe and Asia so he can deploy them for a cooked-up homeland security "emergency".

I know it's a tinfoil hat idea, as the redeployment will take ten years, etc., etc.

But the fact is that Bush, as President, has the ability to manipulate events to his political advantage. I wouldn't be surprised to see the terror alert raised nationwide shortly before the election and plenty of National Guard and police patrolling on election day.

By the way, anybody here ever see the John Frankenheimer movie "Seven Days in May"? It's about a military coup of the US govvernment. An entertaining and frightening movie, albeit slightly dated with cold war cliches.

8. Mobilize them for Iraq and Afghanastan
He is trying to stall a draft if he is elected in 04. He would pull them from around the world and shove all our soliders into Iraq. Once that is exhausted he'll start up a draft.
