I just heard him bloviating on MSNBC. Hey, Gramps, I'm all for it if we can launch Cheney up there first.

10. candidates talking about space shit is always a plus. it was a race america won.
obama should do it to...just make sure to make a point it wont come at the expense of the economy; rather, it will help move the economy forward.

13. Mr. Anti-pork is promising plenty of it to the state of Florida.
Yeah, I believe in funding NASA but where are we going to get the money for this? We have global warming, shrinking middle class, lack of health care etc and he wants to promise billions in pork to Florida.

MCSAME: I'm going to put a man on the moon in the next decade.

LIEBERMAN (whispers): Mars, Mars.

MCSAME: I'm going to put Mars on the moon.

LIEBERMAN (whispers): No, no, youre going to put a man on Mars.

MCSAME: No, no, you're going to put a man on the Mars.

LIEBERMAN (whispers): I'm going to put somebody next whatever.

MCSAME: Joe's going to put somebody next whatever.

LIEBERMAN (whispers): Forget it.

MCSAME: Forget what?

LIEBERMAN (whispers): Just grin.

MCSAME grins.

15. I saw that on MSNBC too!
I was like "Um...did that just sound especially stupid because the delivery was awful as always?" (Rachel is so right when she describes him as looking nauseous and twitchy). And then I replayed the actual substance of what he said, and it sounded even more stupid. But I have never been that into space travel (well, the cost of it). I guess that makes me unAmerican.

16. Don't know about Gramps.....but we need to get our own house in order
before looking to Mars.

I think that most voters are, in earnest, thinking that.

I remember when Bush talked about Mars, he was laughed at as well.

First things first, Sen. Gramps!

17. Even that's old thinking.
Personally, I think we're doing just fine with our machines and bots on mars. It seems to me to make sense. Get right to the science and skip the issues of humans in space in the meantime.

Human bodies, who needs them? I plan on implanting my brain on a robot chassis in about 20 years... It'll be cool.
