Kerry-Edwards: George W. Bush - Doing a Job on America
8/17/2004 8:47:00 PM

WASHINGTON, Aug. 17 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a release of Kerry-Edwards 2004:

In West Virginia today, George Bush tried to cover up his record by using his latest campaign slogan: "getting the job done." But the record shows that the only thing he's done is exacerbated the challenges facing working families.

Kerry spokesman Phil Singer: "George Bush likes to talk about getting the job done, but he's actually done a job on American families. The fact is that during George Bush's time in office, there are over a million lost jobs, 3.7 million more uninsured, record deficits and a growing tax burden on middle class families. Unfortunately, his only solution seems to be imposing a massive new tax on the middle class. John Kerry knows we can do better, and will make America stronger at home and respected in the world."

1. Bush failed to get the job done on ....
Bush Failed to Get the Job Done on Jobs. Since George Bush took office we have lost 1.8 million private sector jobs. Not only that, but the jobs he's created pay on average $9,000 less than those he lost. (Bureau of Labor Statistics; EPI)

Bush Failed to Get the Job Done on Health Care. In the United States, the total family premium for health insurance has increased by $2,630 to $9,068. Out-of-pocket costs and prescription drug prices have also dramatically increased under Bush. The amount spent on prescription drugs has more than doubled over the past five years, from $87 billion in 1998 to $184 billion in 2003. Americans are spending more on prescription drugs today than ever before. (Kaiser/HRET Survey of Employer- Sponsored Health Benefits, 2003; Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, National Health Expenditure Projections, February, 2004)

Bush Failed to Get the Job Done on Education. Over the last four years, George Bush has underfunded NCLB by almost $27 billion, including $9.4 billion in his most recent budget. This denies nearly 5 million children additional help in math and reading, 15,000 teachers high quality professional development, and 1.4 million children the opportunity to attend after-school programs. (Comparing authorization level with appropriation levels for fiscal years 2002 to 2004 and President's request for 2005, edworkforce.house.gov/democrats/nclbapril2004update.pdf)

Say it ya'll, Bush failed to get the job done! :toast:

2. Bush inflicts largest tax hike on American people....
Heard on radio economist say that bush/GOP keep repeating that Kerry will raise taxes. Truth is that under george bush gas prices are out of control, and that is an outrageous progressive tax on the American people. The poor working class, middle income families and our elderly citizens on fixed incomes are tremendously squeezed by high gas prices.

3. He's getting the job done all right....
Helping Halliburton rob the taxpayers blind, awarding them lucrative contracts with no competition, helping all his rich buddies with tax cuts, condemning the the environment to benefit his friends...
Do I need to keep going? He's definitely getting the job done that his friends wanted done.
