2. Correction. It's not Americans who think Kerry is out of touch
it's the rnc whores who go on tv and keep claiming that kerry's "out of the mainstream" and "most liberal senator", etc.

3. Yup
Some jerk on CNN did a piece the other day on how the Chimp is just like Clinton in appealing to people as someone who understands and cares about them (whereas Kerry is "stiff" and "wooden," we were told once again). That is NOT what the polls are showing!!

And welcome to DU! :hi:

5. Gawwd!!
I always believed that Clinton cared about people. Never doubted it for a minute. It showed in his demeanor and his deeds. Shrub, on the other hand, always makes me feel like he's playacting constantly. I don't even get the feeling that he cares much for Laura, let alone anyone else.

6. If Bush cared for you
Would he shift the tax burden to you and make life easier for the super rich? Some people are really freaking stupid. Or it could be result of the neocon minions sent out everyday to brainwash the American people.

10. Seriously, Who Are His Friends? Karen Hughes? Rove?
It has always worried me that Bush doesn't seem to have any friends outside of his political cronies.

Kerry, on the other hand, may not be the greatest schmoozer, but he has many deep, lifelong friendships. They always talk about Bush's sense of loyalty, but to me it seems more like never admitting you are wrong. Kerry knows the true meaning of loyalty, even to friends across the aisle like McCain (long before bipartisanship was politically useful).

9. but he stood side by side with average guys in Vietnam
and has been fighting for them and all other downtrodden people ever since.
Corzine and Kennedy also don't let their wealth keep them from being liberal Democrats.
I can relate to that.

11. Teresa is the one with the money
All the Heinz / Kerry homes are owned by Teresa and her sons except for the one in Boston. The one you are speaking of is the one in Idaho.

I don't begrudge the Heinz family their money. They started a company that makes products that are used by millions of people all over the world. It made them wealthy beyond most people's dreams. Good for them. They could have chosen to become a Paris Hilton socialite. They didn't. John and Teresa Heinz lived useful lives. Teresa continues to do so. Their sons seem to be following in the family tradition.

Were John Kerry and the Heinz family lucky by birth? Yes. They were privileged to have many opportunities. They had the opportunities that we would all want our children to have. I don't see that they live lives of entitlement. They understand that their lives are better if everyone else's lives are improved.

13. I believe it may have been from this same Time poll
(or perhaps Newsweek??) where some analyst pointed out a real problem for Bush in the numbers on trustworthy and honest. It was like Kerry 49% and Bush 41%. Remember we heard forever that Bush's strength was that people thought he was an honest guy.
