CNN "Microphone Malfunctions" with Kerry reporter
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 11:09 AM by NightOwwl
Lost the audio of the guy reporting on Kerry's speech, just as he started to say "Kerry lashed out on..." then silence.

Cut to Kerry's speech, played short clip, back to reporter, more silence.

Reporter on Bush campaign is coming through loud and clear.

How many times is this, now?

7. I just posted a negative opinion of CNN, but
I don't think CNN was a Republican mouthpiece when Ted Turner ran it.

29. It wasn't as bad as now ... but Ted gave voice to many wingnut shills
Phyllis Schaffley, I think Novak and many others.... It's well documented. Ted's personal reputation precedes him here... don't be fooled... he's culpable...

8. I disagree, only since Turner sold it, imho.
I think it was a good news operation prior to that.

Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 11:19 AM by higher class
Demand that U.S. citizens be allowed to see the news they ship to the rest of the world. They spin us crap and send real news to friend and foe. That's what their being a friend of the cabal gets us.

Don't trust the domestic CNN. We are just a form of mushrooms.

30. This is so true...
In Mexico, we get our CNN from England and it is a totally different CNN coverage. During the Dem Convention in Boston, I was on istant message with my daughter in the USA and we were both watching CNN..when Bill Clinton spoke, we got the whole speech..and full coverage of the convention...in Usa just parts of it were shown..my daughter could not believe it..that she just saw the first part of Clintons speech...but not just that...all of our coverage is different. We do get Aaron Brown each night..some of what the USA gets...but we get a totally different percpective outside of the USA.

14. There were TWO malfunctions after Kerry's speech today when he
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 12:00 PM by barbaraann
was shaking hands afterwards with a big smile and lots of wellwishers. Daryn Kagan called it "color bars." So, they couldn't show all of Kerry's positive audience reception after the speech while a GOP campaign official dissed it.

Not to mention the split screen with Bush quotes, the crawler, and the ad for Paula Zahn on top of the crawler. Did I miss anything? Oh, and Bill Schneider gave a short, grim, unsmiling dissection of the speech afterwards, too. He wasn't his perky leprechaun smiley brimming-with-joy self at all.

CNN IS WORSE THAN FOX.

21. I believe Kingdom Holdings has advertising investments in CNN
But this caught my eye-

http://www.time.com/time/globalbusiness/article/0,9171,1101040517-634700,00.html

Prince Of P.R.
Investment tycoon, liberal reformer, world's fourth richest person — Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal is a man of many kaffiyehs, and he's adding another: advertiser. In April, Kingdom Holding Co., the $21 billion investment firm that Alwaleed runs, started advertising itself on CNN and CNBC and in the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times and other media. The ads highlight Kingdom's stakes in a dozen megafirms, such as Citigroup, PepsiCo, News Corp. and Four Seasons Hotels, and include the tag line "Reaching out through global investments." To some, it sounded as if the U.S.-educated prince was trying to use commercials to prepare the way for an IPO — and perhaps ease terrorism tensions between Saudi Arabia and the U.S. (It wasn't too long ago that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani rejected Alwaleed's $10 million donation to the families of 9/11 victims.) But Alwaleed told TIME the campaign is simply part of a strategy to further institutionalize a 25-year-old company that, although it employs just 32 people, is one of the biggest asset holders in the Middle East. "Everybody knows Prince Alwaleed, but no one knows Kingdom Holdings," he says. "Tomorrow, if I die, it will still be operating. It is not a one-man show." He denies rumors that he is planning to take the firm public. "It is not on the table at all," he says. --With reporting by Scott MacLeod/Riyadh

Quote: "The Arab world has to do more to get its message across to the American public, and we have not been doing a good job of this so far."

Didn't anyone tell him that to get the Arab world message across to the redneck, Arab-hating (any ferrriner hating)Bush-loving morons of this country is as impossible as sticking a camel through the eye of a needle (paraphrasing Jeeesus).

27. Gee, Bandar, why would that be true?
Could it be the fact that 15 out of 19 homicidal maniacs at the controls of four hijacked jetliners who killed 3,000 Americans all came from YOUR COUNTRY?

Takes lots and lots of expensive PR to counteract that particular "message", doesn't it?

22. ATL local Faux news
Had exact same issues with shitty (in and out) audio on the 3 minute long lead off story of Edwards' visit to ATL Monday afternoon and evening. The commentator/lap dogs apologized for the problem, but I have yet to see ANYTHING like that with any of *'s stories. Not sure what to make of it, but it smelled fishy to me at the time.

26. I was watching the West Wing on TV a few months ago (the episode
about problems with "free" trade). At the precise moment that the guy who works for the President begins to explain the problems with free trade the they bleep over his entire speech with one of those lout beep beep beep tests and at the precice moment when the man is done speaking, they end the test.
