a friend of ours
he used to be in the army reserves...but he is also a bit on the conservitive side..

at any rate..we had a bbq and he got on the subject of who we will be voting for even though it was obvious by our bumper stickers..

he said he is going to vote for bush because he is pro-troops! LOL! can you believe that???
my mom said "well what do you think I am for? against the troops? because I dont' even think they need to be in Iraq--I want them to come home"
to which he replied..I don't know its messed up and no matter who is in there will it really make a difference...

he had no response but "its messed up"

he said * needs to stay and finish what he started he used some crazy analogy with me "if a painter was painting your house and it wasn't going well wouldn't you just want him to finish it right?" I said "NO! I would hire someone new to do the job RIGHT" and he just laughed! He had no response...

these are the peopel we are dealing with..spouting off Hannity venom as "anit troops" gimme a freaking break!

1. Analogy
I think you misunderstood the respective relationships of the individuals in the analogy.

Bush is not the painter, our soldiers are the painters. They need to stay and finish the job, and do it right, regardless of who is in the White House. Putting Kerry in the White House will not bring our troops home any sooner.

2. I dont' think he will be bringing them home
but I want someone in the White House that understands what is going on....I don't think beacuse Kerry is elected everything is right with the world..we can't pull them out...

He was saying Bush was the painter and needed to finish the job..I realize LITERALLY the soldiers are there doing the work...

3. I would have told him that for his analogy to be correct, . . .
the painter would have had to have been painting the wrong house, painting it the wrong color and breaking windows ripping off gutters. . . that would've been a much better analogy to a shrubya presidency :)

9. another analogy
if you were in surgery for your appendix and the surgeon was ready to take out your lungs by 'mistake' - would you want someone else in the operating room to take over and stop the first surgeon or would you want the first surgeon to continue?

11. Continuing to have our soldiers paint the wrong house
because they were LIED TO about the need for painting the house in the first place does not mean the LIAR gets to keep his job.

Whether they come home faster under Bush or Kerry is not as important as getting a lying dumbass out of the White House.

12. Major Flashback to Vietnam on that statement
"Doing it right?"

What we are doing wrong is being there to begin with. Iraq won't tolerate occupation. That much should be quite clear by now.

I think our troops are valiant, talented, well-trained and will do whatever they are told to do by their commanders. Unfortunately, our commanders have a commander in chief who is incompetent and put them in a quagmire.

Can we hear "Light at the end of the tunnel" now? Or "stay the course"?

Will we start doing body counts?

I lived through the Vietnam fiasco. This one looks, smells and acts just like it....only on steroids.

4. I've heard the 'ole . . .
Bush deserves to fix the mess he's made, & the finish what he started, excuses. I listen with total disbelief! I cannot believe anyone with a brain would think that way. Why give him a chance to fuck it up even more?

All I can say is if dimson wins, these people get what they deserve. Unfortunately, the rest of us, including the rest of the world, don't deserve it!

7. By the reasoning of these people, if shrub screws up, he deserves to be
reelected to try and fix his mess. If he was doing great, he would no doubt deserve to be reelected.

So the formula is, no matter what, success or disaster, vote Repub! To heck with accountability!

13. The painter analogy is just as silly
as the "changing horses in midstream" thing. My dad asked me about that - I told him if the horse I was on was drowning, for sure I'd change horses!
