Idiot Repub Senate candidate wants National Sales Tax vs. Income Tax
In the SC Senate race, the idiot Jim Demint (R) is proposing to abolish the Federal income tax and replace it with a national sales tax. This is the most stupid proposal on its face that I've ever seen. The problem is that people here in SC ARE quite stupid. Even though it would obviously shift the tax burden to the poor and middle class, I'm afraid the people of SC aren't smart enough to figure it out. There is an internet poll on the question regarding support for this proposal on my local TV chanel's website and, so far, support for the proposal is 2 to 1 with 777 votes in. Do me a favor and click "no" for this poll.

1. This fool must not have picked up on the fact
that Chimpy distanced himself from that idea mere days after it flowed out of his maw. It's been around for a while, but is incredibly regressive, and would certainly stifle the economy. What a horrible idea!

2. I know people hate the IRS on general principle
as well they should, since it's all been so vulnerable to tampering by the rich, the powerful, and the corporate, but GOOD GAWD, hasn't anybody explained to them that they'd be paying an additional 25% of the price of their next new car in sales tax? On a 20,000 car, that would hike the tab to $25,000, and that is one hell of a chunk of change on something that probably isn't going to last through the life of the loan!

It just goes to show you that the majority aint always right.

3. Keep in mind too that he proposes only to do away with the income tax...
not FICA, which take a much bigger bite out of many working people's paychecks. :grr:
