Outrageous lying by Repug on Lou Dobbs and once again..Democrat
only half armed.
Lou Dobbs just had a republican and a democrat on to talk about negative adds. The democrat allowed the republican to get away with saying Move-on compared bush to Hitler. As we all know that is not true. What happened was that someone submitted a Hitler add to the contest and it was NOT Move-ons idea, nor did it stay long.
Another fact is that bush actually did have a Hitler add on his web site comparing Gore, Dean and Kerry to Hitler.
Why did the democratic stratedgist not KNOW THIS? Instead he actually disavowed the Move-on add. Other than that he did a decent job, but jeeeeeeeeez!

E-mail Dobbs and let him know about the truth in case the subject comes up again.

1. Democratic talking heads suck
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 05:44 PM by Democat
There are few exceptions, but mostly the left leaning talking heads are horrible at arguing, weak, and totally uninformed.

6. Do they have camps or classes where they train them to debate?
I know there are classes/camps where they train people who are running for office.

Do they have the same for the people who we send out into the media?

This is not typical debating like you learn in college - it requires specific skills that can and should be taught.

How can a congressperson or senator or "think tank" member not be prepared in advance for an appearance on a talk show?

Who organizes talking points and themes with these people from the Kerry campaign?

Somehow the right wing is able to get organized, so should we.

13. Found it!
http://www.democracyforamerica.com/trainings/
By the end of the training, participants will understand the tactics campaigns use to win races at all levels. Trainers will introduce key concepts necessary to:

*write an effective field plan
*target key swing and base voters
*develop winning messages
*raise funds for candidates and organizations
*earn free media coverage
*organize phone banks and canvasses
*motivate and manage volunteers
*speak powerfully to voters and volunteers
*assess campaigns to determine where to invest your effort
*develop an action plan for yourself or your volunteer group

The trainings are perfect for local and state candidates and their volunteers, grassroots leaders, activists seeking to enhance their skills and expand their action networks, and citizens seeking to better understand the workings of modern campaigns.

...okay, so it's not specifically for media guests, but it's a start!

8. I said it before
our responders on these talk shows...come in with hardly any facts.......they let the republicans walk all over them.let the hosts talk over them and then sit there and don't know how to respond....this is what is hurting our party.

If the Democratic Party sends out these men and women........at least have them study the policies that Kerry has stated and study the bush ads coming out..anything to counter the bush attacks....don't fail us now......

4. Yes that was good, when he brought up that the other guy was
fired by congress. But the party loyal need to get on board with the truth about Move-ON and other grassroots orgs. We are out here fighting it would help if they knew half of what we know.

5. who? floyd brown? david bossie?
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 05:59 PM by buycitgo
brown was involved in horton

bossie doctored the Rose law guy's phone transcripts
did he look a little like David Mamet?

I haven't seen publicity hound Brown, who's from Ark, and dogged Clinton for YEARS, and wonder what he's been up to

Bossie is about as low as one can crawl

That same year, {{1992}} Bossie harassed the family of a suicide victim. "An anonymous and untraceable letter" was faxed to some 30 news organizations "claiming Clinton had had an affair with a former law student who committed suicide 15 years ago," an "emotionally distraught young woman, seven-months pregnant" named Susan Coleman. Only after the fact of the fax campaign did Bossie attempt to contact the family for "confirmation," and did so in a repetitive and unrelenting manner suggestive more of harrassment than fact-checking. Bossie, with help from former Washington DC police officer James Murphy, went so far as to follow Susan's mother to a hospital in Augusta, Georgia, where her husband was seriously ill and recovering from a stroke. They "burst into the sick man's room and began questioning the shaken mother about her daughter's suicide." (Source: CBS News, July 13, 1992, quoted at The Allodium web site)

10. I think it was Bossie
Yeah he was low that is why we need people ready with the facts. I don't mean to dismiss the Democrat, he was a fighter, but he didn't have all the amo he needed. I think one of the problems we have is that the Party Machine which still does not trust those of us out here in the field. There was no reason for this guy not to know about Move-On's adds or to be dismissive of them.

11. Whenever republicans repeat the lie about the Hitler ad
democrats should just briefly point out that no such ad ever ran and then they should stress the fact that Karl Rove was the first person to compare Bush to Hitler. Of course Rove did it in an admiring and worshipful way.

12. sent this email to lou dobbs!
"john kerry NEVER ran an ad comparing bush to hitler. moveon.org was holding an ad contest and your republican guest was referring to an ad submittal which moveon.org removed immediately upon becoming aware of it. unfortunately, your democratic guest was unprepared to counter this lie. it would be greatly appreciated if you could publicly clear up this falsehood."
