Kerry campaign advisors caught in a bald-faced lie
Edited on Mon Jan-05-04 11:19 AM by Skinner
DES MOINES, Jan. 3 — Senator John Kerry reached into the past on Saturday with an endorsement — and a 10-minute song of tribute — from Peter Yarrow, a member of the folk group Peter, Paul and Mary.

But the mini-celebrity moment took a turn when Mr. Yarrow, a peace activist since before the two men met protesting Vietnam, was asked if he was disturbed that Mr. Kerry voted in favor of war in Iraq.

"Absolutely!" Mr. Yarrow shouted to a questioner, and he raised his hands to try to command the attention of reporters and Kerry supporters at the police union hall here.

"Let me say this," Mr. Yarrow said. "I fought with John about this. I said, `This is crazy!' "

6. I think that's the point.
All of this bickering and cries of flip flopping and lying is petty. It doesn't matter if it's about Dean, Clark, or Kerry, it's all gone too far.

I remember when you could come to DU and read positive opinion. :)

3. Kerry's supported by someone who opposed the war. This is bad?
It shows that you don't need to be a virgin on the Iraq war to get the nomination. Yarrow obviously respects Kerry. This is a non-issue. I'm pretty hard on Kerry myself sometimes, but at least I try to stick to things that matter.

9. First of all, it was a loaded question

Kerry voted for the UN to do its job and use war as a last resort (same opinion that Dean had at the time of the vote).

As for this event, who cares. Yarrow still endorsed him. It's a moot point.

If anything, it shows that Yarrow can still respect Kerry for all his other great features as a real presidential candidate.

13. The fact that one of his advisors (not him) may have
lied (or been mistaken) about whether Kerry was in the room or on the bus yet is not a big story. I can't believe the crap that makes it into the news. :eyes:

14. What Lie?
Peter Yarrow, longtime Anti-War Activist and friend of John Kerry has endorsed John Kerry. He openly admits to being upset with John about the war vote but still has Endorsed John Kerry.

Reality Check Anti-War Activists who fault John Kerry for his vote! Peter Yarrow longtime Anti-War Activist has Endorsed John Kerry, regardless of his vote!
