Did McCain only denounce the Swift Boat ads to help his support of Bush?
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 09:58 PM by Democat
Many people here say that Kerry denounced the MoveOn ads to help him look stronger for taking the high road.

Using that same logic, did McCain only denounce the Swift Boat ads so that he would have more credibility while campaigning for Bush?

If you look at both sides, is it possible that either Kerry really meant his condemnation of MoveOn, or maybe McCain didn't mean it when he condemned the Swift Boat ads?

McCain was on the road supporting Bush within days of condemning the Swift Boat lies.

1. I am no longer a fan of McCain's but I think he spoke his mind
for himself, not to help Bush. I think only * can help himself by denouncing these ads; that fact that McCain is doing it for him only makes him look more guilty that he hasn't spoken out.

I also think that not speaking out makes Bush's service record look wimpy compared th Kerry's, because he knows they don't compare, and he's afraid to even attempt to deal with the issue.

3. Do you think there is any chance McCain will replace Cheney?
Even though I don't think it will really happen, it seems like the perfect setup.

Get the Democrats praising McCain, make McCain look like the good guy, then suddenly throw him on the ticket.

What would our side do?

4. That is the last thing you should worry about
Crashcart will be on the ticket...the right wing loves him.

Bush & McCain still hate each other...why cannot people understand this?

McCain is playing loyal Republican, & when his friend, John Kerry becomes President, he can help save the ruined party & return it to its Teddy Roosevelt roots.

5. But of course McCain is running for president too, in 2008
That's why he denounced the ads. He's, again, foolishly trying to take the high road to the Republican nomination.

7. McCain sucks
I do agree he is playing the loyal Repuke in case there is a meltdown in November, not only with the Presidential vote but Congress.

Who better to rebuild the Repukes than McCain?

At least I think that is what he has in mind.

6. McCain is chiefly interested in McCain's future
He is clearly running for president in 2008, with the assumption that Bush will (a) lose in 2004 (b) have screwed up the economy so bad Kerry will be ripe of upset in 4 years.
