Poll shows Kerry handily ahead of Bush in Pennsylvania.
Just heard on local TV:

New Pennsylvania Keystone Poll (conducted from Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, PA) shows Kerry at 48 percent in Pennsylvania, Bush at 43 percent, Nader at about 3 percent, and (yikes) about 8 percent undecided.

Should be details on the Web tomorrow.

When the local news anchor said, "According to a new poll, if the election were held today, Pennsylvania would vote for a NEW president, Senator John Kerry," my heart skipped a beat! I know it's only August, but it's still fun to hear those things.

1. In an Ohio thread Kerry's 8 pt lead there is called 'slight'
I say anything over 5% is pretty damn good.

10. Kerry has a 7-8 pt lead in MI
and they keep saying slightly ahead...it seems like a large lead in such a close election..I think they don't want to give in to maybe a REAL lead because it makes the whole election thing boring...

2. Seeing these things just makes me more nervous.
Sorry, but as a Dean supporter in the primaries and the subsequent implosion that happened at the start of them...I remember all of the pundits and *cough* analysts shaking their collective heads saying, "What happened? The poll numbers were so wrong!?"

4. M.O.E?
Polls are so tricky...only the trends are really valuble, IMO. And trends show Kerry is doing fine.

5. Rounding up on decimals, I am sure.
Could account for a couple of percentage points.

6. Never bet against Rendell
In November, Pennsylvania will be ready to do her part. No question.

7. Maybe Junior needs to reinvoke those tariffs on steel
That was one of my favorite moments of the tone-deaf presidency: when he went to have a big fundraiser in Pittsburgh--while his flaks were dismissing rumors that he was about to revoke the tariffs--and then promptly left town with a bag of loot and canceled the tariffs. In keeping with standard practice, he pronounced that they had been incredibly successful and were no longer necessary. Ah, the endless hijacks of the "because I said so" administration...

8. PA is solidly in our column. Not one poll in recent weeks has showed Bush
ahead.
