Top five states that Obama could turn blue (from 04' election)?
Edited on Fri Jun-13-08 09:03 AM by Dawgs
Top Five States that Obama can turn blue (in no particular order), +52.
Ohio, +20
Iowa, +7
Missouri, +11
New Mexico, +5
Colorado, +9

Five States where Obama has a real shot at winning (that Bush won in 04'), +51.
Virginia, +13
North Carolina, +15
Nevada, +5
North Dakota, +3
Georgia, +15 :) Sorry! Forgot about Florida -Although, in my opinion, Georiga is very much in play.

Five States that Obama needs to keep blue (that Kerry won in 04').
Michigan
Wisconsin
Pennsylvania
New Jersey
New Hampshire

My exercise here is to keep my focus on no more than 15 states that will mean something in November.

Anyone want to change, or add, to these lists?

1. I don't think that Georgia is doable
I also don't think that Wisconsin is any problem at all. Nor is New Jersey. I'd replace Georgia with Florida. I also think Virgina is just as winnable as Missouri, maybe more so. I think we may have a shot at Montana

8. we just don't get enough of the white vote there
I think its a state we only win in a complete wipeout election. I think its worth campaigning there. We need to rebuild the party there. It wasn't long ago that the Dem party was dead in Ohio.

5. You're right about Florida over Georgia, although I think he does have a shot here (Georgia).
As a matter of fact, I just talked to a co-worker that is thinking of voting for Barr over McCain.

7. Texas MUST turn blue in 2008, but Obama is struggling here
Rasmussen Reports indictated in a 5/5 poll that McCain led Obama by only 5 points, 48% McCain, 43% Obama. In one month, McCain has somehow managed to increase his lead in Texas, despite Republican voter apathy and Obama's clinch of the Democratic nomination. In Rasmussen's 6/10 poll, it's now McCain 52%, Obama 39%.

Texas must be transformed into a battleground state. We cannot allow the media to consider it "safe red."

10. I think in 10 years
it becomes a swing state as more and more latinos turn out to vote. I don't think we're there yet.

9. Here's some interesting numbers-crunching regarding the states
Granted, it's a George Will column, but nonetheless, it's worthy of a read.
