Brownshirts got my Kerry sign again.....
A couple of weeks ago someone ripped my Kerry sign off my front fence. I laminated the sign and re-installed it with many staples to make it hard to remove. I started a thread here with a picture of the sign, and lots of DUers told me to file a police report. I never did.

Well, sometime in the last couple of days, the despicable freeper managed to remove the sign again. It must have taken 15 or 20 minutes to take down, due to the number of staples. I can't understand the brownshirt mindset that says I don't have the right to express my support for a Presidential candidate. These fascist are clueless about what our system of government is (supposed to be) about.

This time I did file a police report about both incidents, and ordered a wireless video surveillance camera. (http://www.x10.com/cameras/xx11a_s_k_ps29.html) The sign is going back up, and if events unfold as I think they will, I will enjoy the opportunity to face the maggot in a court room.

10. Be really nasty
Don a double layer of surgical gloves (available by the box at most big drug stores), find some poison ivy, and rub a little on one corner of the sign. Make sure there are LOTS of staples in that corner.

Yes, I have a mean mind.

6. Fox Urine.
The State DOTs use it on evergreen trees to dissuade theft. You can buy it. Stinks to high heaven and hell hard to get rid of.

It is not one of those scents that will get you instantly laid. ;-)

9. Dog poo...cat poo...ferret poo...
Wear rubber gloves...you can throw away when you're done. "Paste" poo to outer edges hidden at back of sign...particularly upper corners of sign, where the perps will grab to rip. Reapply on regular basis. (It does dry out.) I assume now you are sure I'm a very strange person..but I did this to stick-in-the ground wired lawn signs...hid the goo around the wires at both "legs".. inside the bottom of sign, precisely where people would grab to uproot. Poo squeezes out, voila!!! I know it worked because the next day one of my signs had been only partially uprooted. I only wish I had witnessed the eeeyewww!!! shrieks of the bozo who tried it and tossed it. Cheers!

29. Chili peppers.
Get the fresh ones, either from your own garden, or from the supermarket. Run them through your food processor, don some rubber gloves, and apply liberally to the sign. Watch hilarity ensue.

Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 10:39 AM by WI for Kerry
I have had my sign stolen 3 times. So now I am building a sign displace case. I am burying two poles, Building a wood frame. Then I will attach my Kerry sign and my Feingold sign. After that Plexiglas screwed over the top. I will be done in about a week!!

12. You can save a step
You already have the fence. With Plexiglas over the top of your sign, they will need to burn your fence down to get at that sign......You have insurance, lol

11. I am interested in what the surveillance camera reveals
We have an older woman I call the "Yard Nazi" whom I am convicned is taking my
Americans Against War sign - and has been doing so for nearly a year.
I keep putting it back up.

It is not acceptable to engage in criminal behavior and trespass - just because something is offensive.

2nd and 3rd grade kids behave better than that.

15. Cover the sign with a matching shade of blue printer's ink
Not only will it get on their hands, it'll probably also get on their clothes as they reflexively try to wipe it off, and it'll damn sure end up on their car's door handles.

20. Radio Shack has cheap and LOUD alarms you could put on back of sign
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 11:41 AM by zulchzulu

Powerhorn security alarm is $30.00

You could also attach a slingshot boobie-trap set-up to the sign that holds a big, heapin' helpin' of Liquid Drano and paint mix that would release if someone tampered with the sign.

When you have the proof on camera? Theft? Vandalism? Probably a handful of things. Oh, this is great! You have to keep us updated. I hope the asshole does come back so you can have him arrested.

30. Theft, for starters
And trespassing, and if any other property was damaged in the process of the theft, criminal damaging. There's a lot here for a prosecutor to work with. The trick is to catch the son of a bitch in the act, or with a bunch of pilfered signs.

22. Try smearing edges and back with Prussian Blue, a metal dye
that will not come out of the skin. The skin has to wear away. You can get it at machinist supply houses. Get the tube, not the spray.

IT's pretty f-ed up to rip down a sign with that many staples in it.

The vandals must be like the rabid crazy kids in "Bob Roberts" or something.

27. Spray an outline of a person lying on the sidewalk below your sign
you know, the crimescene type outlines, and dab a little crimson paint in three dots approximately where the heart would be. Maybe even show the outline of the sign in one of the hands.

31. If you catch them in the act
I believe you would be justified in causing them at least some physical pain.

They are engaged in criminal activity and damaging your private property. You would be justified in taking certain actions to attempt to hold them until police arrived.

Or you could just chase them down into an alley and kick their teeth down their throats and leave it at that.
