CBS: Bush has spent 40% of presidency at 'ranch', Camp David & Kennebunk..
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 03:00 PM by plastic_turkeys
When it comes to the president, one phrase the White House hates to use is: "On vacation."

It conjures up an unflattering image of a chief executive with his feet up and the phone off the hook - ignoring the responsibilities of his office.

Of course, it's a myth. American presidents these days can get away from the Oval Office, but not its responsibilities. The burdens of the job follow him wherever he goes - including his ranch in central Texas.

A CBS News tally shows that President Bush is now making his 38th visit to his Prairie Chapel ranch since taking office. Add up the number of full or partial days he has been there - it comes out to 254. That's about 20 percent of his presidency. Add in his time at Camp David and the Bush family home in Kennebunkport, Maine, and the percentage more than doubles. And the White House is self-conscious about it.

1. Bush is running ads about Kerry's missed time - what about Bush?

Maybe it's time for someone to go on the offensive and run some ads about Bush's missed time?

3. The less he "works" the better, probably
Everytime he signs something, it screws over more Americans.

4. plus he's campaigning on our buck now too
and using Air Force One, secret service, etc., constantly. The money allowed to be used for the prez campaigning never remotely covers the actual taxpayer dollar. The GOP is campaigning on my tax money; drives me nuts.

If you really added up his campaign and vacation time, he would probably win the contest for non-working Prez of all time.

7. WHAT? You mean something in F/911 is confirmed by mainstream
media? Will wonders never cease. Someday you'll have me believing a fact is merely a propaganda piece. (somebody needs to alert Chris Matthews, oh great champion of facts)

Our local news says he is getting "rest" this week
Hmm, maybe Bush is not fit to lead, needing so much 'rest'.

10. right now I'm wearing a t-shirt that says: "Kerrybunkport"
Got it while volunteering at the Dem HQ smack-dab in the center of my home town, Kennebunkport.

Were we busy? We were swamped! They couldn't make the stickers and buttons fast enough! My favorite types of people who came in:

1) Canadians expressing wishes they could vote- for Kerry.

2) Republicans explaining that they could never bring themselves to vote Dem, so they won't be voting at all.

but by far the most people were just good natured Dems who were thrilled to see us there. I had always had a very low opinion of the particular tourists who choose K'port. So nice to know I've been misjudging them!
