Crazy rightwinger confronts cars w/Kerry stickers -- in Maryland!!
My husband was out doing errands this afternoon in our Blazer, which has a "Kerry-Edwards" sticker (and a Clark04 one).

Stopped at a red light, a minivan pulled up beside him and the driver started screaming and yelling like a maniac. "How could you live in this beautiful area and vote for that slimeball" and nonsense like that.

My husband asked him if he was a Christian fundamentalist. He said no. So my husband said "Then you must be a Nazi!" The light changed, and as my husband was turning right they separated, screaming -- my husband yelling "F*** you, Nazi!!" as only he can.

What's crazy is we're in Maryland -- a true "blue" state. If he's going to go ballistic at every Kerry bumpersticker around here, the guy's got his work cut out for him.

1. Mr. blm and I were in Baltimore for a convention last weekend, and

there was a white van on the feeway with HUGE painted red letters denouncing Kerry as a traitor and a terrorist.

It was a real "Deliverance" type rube driving.

31. O fa chrissake
Two moments:

1. In a controlled setting where debate and fact can win the day;

2. On the fly, potentially dangerous situation where its a face-off and the loudest person wins.

This was a No. 2 situation, and homeboy burned that motherfucker down. I say cheers.

when i see a bush/dickehead cheney sticker on a car all i do is just laugh to myself...of course its usually accompanied by a pro-life sticker as well. i just figure these people for idiots and dont even bother with them. but can someone tell me what in the hell these zealots hope to accomplish by yelling at kerry supporters at red lights, on the road, in parking lots, etc.

There have been too many of these stories on DU lately and its starting to make me sick. have these people no shame? goddamn i cant wait til November 3rd!!!!

but I have seen pro-life and religious stickers so I know where they're goin'

It's just their mentality and mind set..they are the let's go bomb Iraq after 9/11 armchair warriors. And when they see something that might want to take that away from them..they get violent on the road.

I work in D.C. and live in Maryland, and Kerry and/or "Redefeat Bush" stickers/buttons/yard signs are beating Bush-Cheney items probably 15 to one, from what I've actually noticed. I had to go to DELAWARE to see the first Bush-Cheney sign of the season, believe it or not.

By the way, I'm going to start a thread on how to respond to those who confront us about our Kerry-Edwards gear. I don't want my fellow DUers to wind up in the hospital (or worse) over an encounter with Bush-Cheney people. I have seen actual freepers up close, and they are not people I'd want near my family or friends.

45. We held a weekly vigil on the side of the road every week for months
along with the Friends who held a silent one. We had a mix of responses, mostly positive. There were some jokers though. A schoolteacher had a bottle thrown at her there. Creeps.

Howard County Coalition for Peace and Justice, formerly the Howard County Coalition Against War, reporting in.

The day the war started, at 6:00 pm, we gathered at Little Patuxent and Broken Land Parkways, (near the Columbia Mall) Columbia, MD. The Howard County Coalition Against War, a recently-formed activist organization, planned a “Walk for Peace” in Columbia to coincide with a likely U.S. invasion of Iraq. Organizers sought to provide an outlet for the strong sentiment against the war held by a number of citizens and elected officials in our area. This is the location where a silent peace vigil had been held on a weekly basis since October 2001. Black armbands were be provided as an expression of mourning for the lives that will be lost in the war, both civilian and military. Walkers were also encouraged to bring candles or flashlights. The Howard County Coalition Against War is comprised of individuals and members of various lay and religious organizations in Howard County who are opposed to the war against Iraq.

21. The response was great up-to the F*** you part
This is a fine example of the conservative base that Carl Rove has instilled in the Right Wing. I bet the people in the mini van had right to life bumper stickers and go listen to a right wing church service as well.
These people are desperate, they know how stupid the dub is and they must try to justify their vote! Good republicans never change their mind, even when it is wrong.

I drove down from PA and I had my Kerry sticker on the car so I set the tone early at this suprise birthday party. These are all white, upper middle class people who live in MD but, I'm guessing, Columbia does not at all represent the rest of MD. They blindly love Bush but too bad for them that their votes will get drowned otu in that state. The only allies I had were a mixed race couple (white male / black female) who. like me, despise Bush.
