instead of one of your special hand picked bush loving clone crowds who sign loyalty oaths and applaud your every stupidity and bumbling utterance.

mr. bush you don't have the BALLS to appear before a common, right off the street, random group of americans.

why?

1. Because he hates disagreement and opposition.
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 06:31 AM by terrya
Man, did Bush think it was SO cool when he had 90% approval ratings. When Ari Fleischer told the American people that they should not criticize the President. When the press corps sat like good little lap dogs and took what the White House told them was the truth.

But it's a far different time for Mr. Bush now. People are questioning his motives. People, like myself, think that every word out of Mr. Bush's mouth is a lie. And people will call him on his words and actions now. Mr. Bush cannot subject himself to that. It's "loyality oaths" and bullshit like "Ask President Bush" with fawning sycophants in carefully staged events.

3. no president has ever done this
or so consistently. i have never heard of any politician doing this. using pro bush supporters as human props. and eliminating all other voices from his speeches. yet Kerry isn't bothered or shaken by hecklers, and doesn't screen his crowds like rush and bush.

5. This President just can't take oppostion. I wouldn't be surprised
if there are "enemies lists" being drawn up right now. Bush has a lot of Nixon's "less than sterling" qualities, shall we say.

compared to others like him throughout history: Hitler, Stalin, Ferdinand Marcos, Papa Doc, this is actually pretty tepid.

However, I wouldn't make that same statement for the reign of Nero & Caligula Bush.

they throw him off utterly. he turns bright red and gets a murderous look on his face. he loses his place in the teleprompter feed, and he has absolutely NO comeback. fuck, i was raised on don rickles, i know how to handle hecklers. but bush gets totally thrown off his horse if someone yells during his speech.

now you just don't see them anymore, very rarely does one get through. america is bush's free speech zone. we are kept from him, kept from questioning him and we are supposed to vote for him? fuck that

Why...Isn't that one of Chimps favorite lines??

Freedom to ask him tough questions, and of course he doesn't have a logical answer.

Freedom for dissenters to show up with a Kerry/Edwards sign.

LOL,the debates will be a hoot....

13. Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent, not at this juncture.
bu$hie is having enough trouble maintaining his human shape, even in front of hand-picked crowds of adoring pinheads. His handlers absolutely cannot subject him to the stress of facing a group of people who might, for instance, wish him a corncob enema.

When one is--how to say this properly?--a Journeyman Reptile, one has not yet learned all the control necessary to maintain the physical form of a Human in periods of extreme stress. This takes intense concentration acquired over centuries of practice. Simply put, Junior does not yet have the chops of Poppy, Bar and/or Snarling Dick.

To further complicate matters, there are some rogue Simian genes in the family pool. If bu$h should lose control of his human form, there is a 50/50 shot of him appearing as a chimp rather than the acceptable lizard form.

For these reasons, he must be controlled carefully for several more decades. But, oh, the profit potential!!!!

Imagine having to report that bush attracted 600 supporters and Kerry 40,000.

And worst of all, the ones bush did attract were given free bus rides and God only knows what else to get them there.

23. The little emperor appears before his subjects...
http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/9427195.htm?ERIGHTS=-8932782844173565834philly:

<snip>

A crowd of about 8,000 people, which included many Republican stalwarts along with plant workers and their families and friends, chanted "Four more years, four more years" as Bush rose to speak.

The invitation-only audience stood for more than two hours under unremitting sunshine in a paved area between plant buildings along Route 291 in Ridley Township, Delaware County. More than two dozen people wilted in the mid-'80s temperature and were treated for heat stress at the plant's on-site medical clinic.

Boeing fire chief Bob Denney, watching as a middle-aged woman was wheeled into the double-door emergency entrance, said: "We have three stretchers going nonstop."

<snip>

Police kept a gaggle of protesters about a mile from the Boeing plant. About 40 stood at an intersection in Essington, some waving signs listing the names of dead soldiers.

24. Great posts, mopaul, but my question is
How come when we see TV coverage of Kerry speaking at a rally, the TV news shows him only from the chest up? We never get to see sights like the following:

Could it be because they want to portray him as attracting the same anemic crowds that the chimperor does?

would show up? Yeah, I know all of us rowdy commies and liberals wouldn't pass the security check. Nor would anyone of us sign the oath, but what if they just waited for true believers to show up? I'll bet without the bussed in crowds, there wouldn't be a whole lot of support in most places.

During the Pacific Rim summit at PSU, he spontaneously addressed a crowd of several thousand students and professors in a campus park, TAKING UNSCRIPTED QUESTIONS FROM THE CROWD. There were even some fat-ass freeper types standing on the outskirts trying to look tough, and Bill Clinton DIDN'T MIND A BIT.

Funny how that goes.

39. When Martin Luther King, Jr spoke
and there were "hecklers" (and "jecklers") in the audience, he would occassionally engage them in conversation. Sometimes he even had them come on stage, to present their points. He would gentle compare his stance with theirs.

Malcolm X took a slightly different approach. He would engage them in a conversation, then cut them to ribbons.

Robert Kennedy did a combination of MKL and Malcolm. Or he'd just expose them for what they were.

Good public speakers do not fear that someone in the crowd will oppose their point of view.

44. Bush vs. Kerry crowds
I read recently Bush had a wildly supportive crowd of 2,800 screened RE-pubs in Idaho concurrent with Kerry speaking to a crowd estimated at 50,000, the largest political crowd in that area possibly ever.

Both speakers seem to have received identical media coverage for these events.

The implication being that the events were comparable, but the attendance numbers speak otherwise. I don't see where Bush could ever rally a crowd anywhere near as big as Kerry's!

Also, it seems pretty damn totalitarian that an AMERICAN CITIZEN has to sign a loyalty oath to see their President speak!

Soon you'll have to sign a loyalty oath to see certain news channels on cable or buy certain newspapers.

How come this isn't being challenged in the courts? Wouldn't the ACLU want to challenge this?
