Barack can’t be touched…
UK reporter after covering the Sinclair circus:

When I returned from the Alice in Wonderland press conference, a Republican friend who worked for Ronald Reagan happened to call. He was emphatic that the Republicans cannot get involved in smears on Obama. His argument was that they would be better off losing than end up tainted with the smear of racism for decades to come.

“This is one election we’re going to have to win on the issues,” he said. “It would be horrible for us if we won because of smears.”

Issues = we’ll win. :)

6. Right..they might stay away from racism..
but, they'll try anything else. Even, though, Huckabee and Luke Russert has asked them not to.

9. Rev. Wright was nothing but racism
and they won't stay away from it. They will do everything they can to remind America that Obama is black short of calling him an N. Because Repugs just don't know how to dial down their hate. See Jean Schmidt as an example.

4. And when did most Republicans start caring about avoiding the appearance of racism?
Hell, they've been fostering racism for decades!

8. I'd ask the Republican friend . . .
1) Does he not realize that 'Licans are considered crypto-racists already? They've borne the taint for decades already and it shows no signs of wearing off.

2) Does he think that, despite the fact that some moral, civilized Republicans will eschew smears, that any moderating authority can control hatemongers like Hannity and Limbaugh (not to mention bottom feeders* like Coulter and Savage?), especially when cancerous growths like Karl Rove still command "respect?"

* No insult intended to those of our fishy and crustacean friends whose natural niche involves feeding off the bottom of our planet's great streams, bays, and seas.

10. Thank God for evolution...
Sure the cretins will still slime and slither, but even with all of Dole’s Viagra they won’t be potent this time around.

This is what we’re up against –

Nope, Barack can’t be stopped. :)

12. The 'Pukes have no issues
Well, not legitimate issues, anyway. Why do you think they had to run on "keep the queers from gettin' marrified" in 2004. Hell, it won Chimpy 11 states. But that was before gas tripled, the economy collapsed, and most of the 4000 Americans had died in a useless illegal war. That shit ain't gonna fly this time.
