'McCain's support among GOP women shows cracks'
Edited on Thu Jun-19-08 12:38 AM by Newsjock
That's the original headline at the SF Chronicle, honest.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/06/18/MNS211BBRL.DTL&tsp=1

The challenges facing Sen. Barack Obama as he tries to woo supporters of former rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton could pale in comparison with Sen. John McCain's troubles with female voters - if the voices of a growing number of prominent Republican women are any indication.

"I cannot see a more counterproductive candidate for women," said Jillian Manus-Salzman, a leading California Republican activist and generous GOP donor in the nation's most populous state, an ATM for presidential campaigns. "I cannot vote for McCain."

Susan Eisenhower - granddaughter of former GOP President Dwight Eisenhower and a Washington, D.C.-based expert on foreign policy and national security issues - said Wednesday she is backing Obama over McCain because the Democrat has shown more understanding of how the Iraq war, the economy and other key issues affect women's daily lives.

3. Could Obama bethe first post feminist male to truly understand women
I think he is that post everything person who was raised up in a world that embarrassed change, equality and civil rights across the board. Well, except for that Gay Marriage thing. And that needs to be addressed.

I think Obama will do the right thing for this country. This election is a realigning election that will change the face of America for the better.

5. I think as soon as the reality sets in for millions of women, just how hostile
mcsame is to women's priorities - including health care, education, child safety, and choice - there won't be a "can Obama attract suburban women" or ANY OTHER group of women, for that matter. Especially when it's a woman looking into the camera, and addressing mcsame directly, serving him notice that he cannot have her baby boy for his 100-year war in Iraq.

And if that doesn't get 'em, I'd also say the "let's attack Michelle" campaign will be a real turn-off. Women rallied to Hillary Clinton when they felt she was under fire, unfairly dealt with by the media, and written off as early as Iowa Caucus night. I'd guess women will become offended about the treatment of Michelle Obama, too. Which won't help mcsame AT ALL. (GOOD!) I think those 527 groups and other once-removed political hit squads that are planning to go after Michelle Obama may be in for something of a surprise. Their actions may actually help tip the balance for Barack. HOW ON EARTH could one even consider taking the proverbial hatchet to a candidate's wife (and a popular one at that) without the risk of seriously alienating a huge chunk of women voters??? What are they thinking???
