Bush visits wrong NFL team in Wisconsin
While traveling through the state of Wisconsin, Bush stopped to visit the Kansas City Chiefs training camp. Someone should tell him the Packers are Wisconsin's team.

1. Thank God he ordered Cheese Whiz on that cheesesteak
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 08:07 PM by Newsjock
I will sleep tonight knowing that our country is in the hands of a True American. I thank God for giving CNN and Fox News Channel the guidance to completely and fully report this important fair and balanced story.

(Yeah, right: Just watch to see if CNN will ever mention this.)

20. Well, he just lost Wisconsin
It's one thing to visit the KC Chiefs training camp in Wisconsin. That might be forgiven by many Wisconsinites -- we like to be good hosts, after all.

But putting Cheez Wiz on a Cheese Steak?!?!? IN WISCONSIN?!?!?

For Christ's sake! Doesn't he realize that people used to have to smuggle Oleo margarine across the state lines because it was illegal?

He should forget it. He's lost WI now for good!

26. Actually, Bush lied about the Cheez Whiz, too.
It's on atrios, who credits the following paragraphs to CampaignDesk.org:

In contrast to the bigfoots of the national press, Kathleen E. Carey of The Daily Times went beyond mere stenography and did a little leg work on the issue, as well she should. For, while it's certainly not in the top 100 critical campaign issues this election year, it's safe to say that the proper construction of a Philadelphia cheesesteak matters more to Daily Times readers than it does to a national audience.

And the intrepid Carey came up with her own expose. She reported that Bush actually "prefers his steak absent of the usual Cheez Whiz and provolone, accompanied only by cheese of the American variety," information that she obtained from her own Deep Throat, one Caeser Barnabei, the owner of the well-known cheesesteak shop, Jim's Place. Barnabei, who has fed the Bush camp on previous swings through Pennsylvania and provided "70 to 80 hoagies" for the Bush campaign yesterday, confided to Carey that "the Jim's Special is altered to whet the 'W' appetite."

In Philadelphia, the classic cheesesteak recipe is hot beef strips and fried onions dripping with grease, slathered with Cheez Whiz straight from the squeeze bottle, all atop white bread. Solemnly, Carey reported her devastating conclusion: "The commander-in-chief fooled thousands Tuesday to believe he eats like the epicureans here."

2. But the Packers aren't owned by a corporate whore with gobs of cash
to donate to his campaign. Being a publically owned team, I'm sure he decided there was no hay to be made there.

3. Publicly owned, why that's almost like socialism!
If folks knew all about that, they might be getting all uppity, wanting the same thing for their health care, water and electricity. Now, we couldn't allow that, could we.

4. KC Chiefs contact info
This sickens me about my hometown's team and dampens my enthusiasm for the upcoming season.

Here's a link where you can tell the Chiefs how you feel

http://promotions.lookandfeel.com/chiefspromo/promotions/PromoForm.jsp?site=kcchiefs.com&campaign=Kcchiefs.com+Comments

Excerpt: "Peterson, the Chiefs' president/general manager, and coach Vermeil are avid Bush supporters.

''I certainly don't think he hurt his chances (to gain some votes) today,'' Peterson said. ''If there were some people on the fence, I think they got off the fence.''"
>snip<

and

"The coach was asked whether the Chiefs would invite Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry if he wanted to visit camp.

''Not necessarily,'' Vermeil said with a smile."

BOO CHIEFS!!! I'll spend the Sundays I would have been watching the game out knocking on doors for Kerry!

5. WTF?
You go to Wisconson and visit a football team's training camp, and it's the KC Chiefs?

I mean, isn't there a team FROM Wisconson? Duh!

And on another note... what's the KC Chiefs training camp doing in Wisconson? You should have heard SD fans complain when the Chargers moved thier camp to Carson, and that's just 100 miles...

It's now official: I will root for the LA Rams, and against the KC Chiefs.

But, they are in Wisconsin THIS August, aren't they?

Of course, really, I'm sure this was planned way in advance, and due to what Missouri in August is usually like.

32. Of course,
global warming has made the midwestern states even hotter in most summers. I live in Kansas, and we don't even get much cold in the winter anymore. Sure, this has been a cooler, wetter than normal summer, but global warming also causes weird weather and extremes weather swings.

18. Can I trade the Rams for the Chargers?
I'll throw in the Padres, free.

(You probably don't want the Padres. After all, you have a REAL baseball team. And you probably wouldn't trade the Rams either, for the same reason.)

27. Hey, the Padres are just behind the Dodgers. I'd call that a real team.
As for the Chargers - the only reason San Diego yelled when they went to Carson is because Carson is still in California. We don't WANT the Chargers. The city council loves the Chargers. The rest of us? hahaha.

35. Chicago use to practice in Platteville for many years.
There were other teams using Wisconsin for their practices. Other teams also go north for lower temps.

It's no different for baseball teams to have their pre-season games in Arizona or other warm climates so that they have the additional games under their belt.

Jets fans are amusing, but sometimes the cultural trainwreck is a tad too uncomfortable to watch.

Rams are in St. Louis, but there are Rams fans everywhere. I've been a fan since '74 and was just lucky that they moved down the street from me. The Rams will make the room happy and pound the snot out of those Bush-loving Chiefs for you tonight!
