1. It has some life in that it will be discredited and that will be the main
story for some time to come.

5. This is no ordinary smear
The Vietnam war still has tremendous resonance in the American people. Many of us became politically aware and began taking sides in the left-and-right struggle as a result of that war. The comparisons between Iraq and Vietnam are inevitable and are in the backs of the minds of every American old enough to remember. George Bush has reawakened the tremendous wounds in our society that resulted from Vietnam and the so-called self-proclaimed "uniter" has now succeeded in dividing even the veterans who served in that war. This controversy will not go away because it taps into the old unresolved pain over the Vietnam war from which this country still hasn't recovered.

6. Oh, but Bushco has cured us of our post Vietnam malaise! They have
shown us that robust and agressive (so what if it was unprovoked) military action is all that's required to exorcise those nagging Vietnam era demons! Americans are all walking tall and proud with a big smile on their face since "Mission Accomplished!"
