The calls for semiformal dress, shirts and ties etc. are smart. I'm a hippie type, but I make sure that I am conservative in my dress when I attend high profile protests. That said, anyone who watched the free trade protests in Florida have to be chilled at the potential for storm trooper violence in NY. There were plainclothes agitators who were there to target protesters, unmarked vans with jump-out goons. I would highly recommend helments and gas masks as accessories. Nothing good for the rubber bullets though.
