McCain takes up big role for Bush

Apologize, McCain suckers - you know who you are...

http://www.indianexpress.com/full_story.php?content_id=53445

"Republican officials said plans are in the works for McCain to appear with Bush during the week of the Republican convention in New York that will nominate Bush for a second term. Then the plan is for them to campaign together immediately after the convention.

‘‘It helps having him stand by my side,’’ Bush said.

1. McCain is just trying
to keep his Presidential hopes alive.

But, too bad for McCain, groveling to the neos is no way to do this.

They have both barrels waiting for him in 2008.

2. Don't call me sucker, sucka.
He had my respect during the 2000 election after his scathing attack on the right-wing religious wackos. I have no idea why he's become Bush's butt-boy, and he has certainly lost my respect now, but I'm not going to apologize for what I felt 4 years ago.

5. but were you one of the DUers who wanted him as Kerry's
VP? THAT might be what the author of this thread was referring to...Many on DU thought it was a brilliant idea for Kerry to choose McCain as his running mate...probably the same people who think its great for Kerry to trash his own side and stay quiet on attacks from his enemies..(the "high road" i think its called)

4. any respect I had for McCain when down the drain
he sold his soul to the same bastard that took him down in 2000

he didn't seem to do much when Cleland's war record was smeared

and now when the swiftsmear boat ads came out - yes McCain did denounce them -- however, after bush* failed to do likewise - I think McCain should have back out of stumping for bush* - he hasn't

6. This has bothered me so much
that I wrote him a long letter this morning, really tonight...I am in Hawaii, & it is 2:45 AM here.

I told him how disappointed I was with his support for Bush, talked about the smears against Kerry & Cleland, etc.

I also quoted out of the NY Times article, where this whole smear is tied to the Bush people.

I told him his integrity is more important than his party.

7. This makes me sick, but
maybe he's protecting his family. I hope he has a good reason.

Oh, well - I think it looks worse for Bush, to have McCain by his side, because people can't help but remember the pure viciousness of the attacks on McCain. But maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.
