Letter to CNN
I just watched CNN's Schneider summarily dismiss Kerry's allegations that the Swift liars were a front for the Bush campaign, despite the recent New York Times article.

So I have a question. Why did CNN and Schneider summarily dismiss Kerry's allegation that the Swift boat group were a front for Bush, yet repeatedly entertain the Swift's allegation that Kerry lied about Vietnam, going so far as to play their ad over and over again never once making summary conclusions that the allegations were bunk? Does CNN think the Swift liar's "evidence" better than Kerry's? Does CNN favor the credibility of the Swift group over Kerry? Or did CNN just decide to arbitrarily insert a big, stinking double standard into their campaign analysis in order to gloss over their extreme unfairness and one-sided treatment of the issue?

Fox and Brit from Fox were doing the same thing last night, demanding that Kerry prove the liar's were connected with Bush, yet glossing over the utter lack of proof behind the liar's accusations and the overwhelming contrary evidence, such as the first hand accounts of the person plucked out of the water and those on the very same Swift boat. When did American journalism arrive at the point when those making scandalous accusations do not have to meet the burden of proof while those who defend from such wild attacks must? This is a recipe for disaster.

4. And now MSNBC
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 08:23 AM by My Pet Goat
is saying it is just "he said, she said."

WRONG!!!! Kerry has first hand evidence and records to back up his case.

Even if it were he said, she said, then Kerry must win because the accusers can't carry their burden.

I have never been more disgusted at so called journalism.

6. Letter to WP ombudsman regarding VandeHe's admission:

Jim VandeHe was just on MSNBC admitting that this Swift boat controversy is just "he said, she said."

WRONG!!!! Kerry has first hand eyewitness accounts and records to back up his case.

Even if it were "he said, she said", then Kerry must win because the accusers can't carry their burden.

I have never been more disgusted at so called journalism. If scandalous accusations only have to meet the burden of "he said, she said", then old-fashioned American journalism is dead and American political discourse is in the sewer.

It's outrageous that CNN's "Senior Political Analyst" is also a fellow of the American Enterprise Institute (and, I assume, also on their payroll), AND that viewers are not told this on air!

9. Thanks, this is what I sent:
Why did you summarily dismiss Kerry's allegation this morning that the Swift boat group were a front for Bush? I ask because you have repeatedly entertained the Swift's allegation that Kerry lied about Vietnam, going so far as to play their ad over and over again yet never once making summary conclusions that the allegations were bunk.

The best case the Swift group can make is "he said, she said", and that when you construe all their charges most favorably and ignores Kerry's mountain of contrary evidence, such as the first hand, eyewitness accounts including the victim himself and the objective evidence of the service records. Yet even with "he said, she said", then Kerry must win on this debate because "he said, she said" means the accusers can't carry their burden.

I have never been more disgusted at so called journalism. If scandalous accusations only have to meet the burden of "he said, she said", then old-fashioned American journalism is dead and American political discourse is in the sewer.

10. Very nice letter
Unfortunately, CNN often gives the impression that they are also a front for Bush.
