Paper's Stories Told Of Hope in Iraq
Editor, Times-Dispatch: I would like to commend the newspaper for its great journalistic coverage of the war in Iraq the past couple of weeks. The stories by and about soldiers are the only ones worth reading. War is awful, no doubt, but I felt your stories told of hope and some progress being made in the liberation of Iraq.
As we all try to make some sense of the upcoming presidential election, it is important that America stay strong and resolute. If someone would like to take the job from George Bush, I would certainly like to hear some solutions instead of talking about all the problems we have.
Another thing that bothers me is our treatment of 9/11. We don't say, "Remember 9/11" the way we do with the Alamo and Pearl Harbor. I hope everyone who votes realizes the object of that group of cowards who attacked was to kill 30,000 to 50,000 innocent Americans.
In this day when everybody expects instant gratification, and personal responsibility seems to be slipping away, I pray for and appreciate our soldiers who have to be the toughest military force ever assembled.
Remember 9/11. John Cates. richmond.
